I've used BearShare before with fairly good success, but stopped using it in favor of KaZaa Lite. I'm just wondering what opinion other members have of it, because I may start using it again as a backup.

So what are your thoughts? Is it a good program? Does it contain spyware? Are downloads smooth, or do they get cut off a lot? (that's one of the problems I'm having with KaZaa).

Any hints, tips, or suggestions would be appreciated.

I like bearshare. It contains spyware that says that if you delete it, it will mess up the program...but that is a lie. I deleted it to see, and it runs just fine without the spyware! I used "Hijack This" to delete the program called SaveNow. I also deleted the WeatherCast, in favor of the Weather Channel's version of weather desktop. Anyway, I removed all components of the spyware and the program can still operate fully.

A program called diet kazaa can remove the spyware from kazaa. Normally, kazaa would not work without the spyware but it does with this sneaky program

OR... you could just get Kazaa Lite instead of Kazaa. Much easier that way
