Hey - start off small e.g ask to be a moderator on a part of the board with little traffic then sneak into the more popular ones

Oh, and if you took part in the White Room or the other cussing threads that sprung up while the big Z was "otherwise engaged", now would be a good time to appear very contrite.

And just who is CocoaSpud anyway

I believe that you also have to be "an ancient" on the board before you get anywhere. (you know what I mean)

Don't know much but I can learn!
Or buy it!

Drat, I wished it was just an ASK AND ANSWER.

But kind of knew it wasn't!

I imagine the thing you have to do more than anything else is prove yourself trustworthy. I received moderatorship of the Wizardry 8 board through a recommendation (from Wyvern), and hopefully have proven trustworthy so far.

It's important to remain cool in the face of attacks, and be able and willing to take decisive action when necessary without flying off the handle. It also helps to help others out...a LOT. I didn't get over 2000 posts by spamming! (Well, maybe a little... ) Most of those, though, were/are legitimate help posts over at Wizards & Warriors.

On the other hand, there are significant benefits to NOT being a moderator...you get pretty new stars every time you "level up"...er, that is, reach a new posting level, your title changes, and you can "hang out" without being ever watchful for miscreants.

Enjoy your status!
