Paladin Promotion

Information rather than a question this time.

I just discovered another altar which can be used for Paladin promotion, to the far south west of the map in the Western Ocean area.

I remember when I discovered that one, too. My only problem was that by then, everyone who needed to be a paladin had already been so.

If this isn't in the best tips thread, would you add it?

Hmmm. Mayby I visit there, it's closer than altar I know near of Valeia in the forest... Thanks! This save's my time!

IIRC....the 'Altar of Serran' that, Desdicado is talking about is closer, in terms of distance....But in 'normal' gameplay....It's much farther.
It's actually on the southern end of the 'Lost sea'....which means...you have to finish 'Skull castle'...(to get the 'Staff of Death')..and the 'Shrine of Anephas'...(to get to the 'Lost Sea')...So...If you have 'Create Portal' and 'Teleport' it's faster to travel back to Valeia...

However...If you know how to 'Tree Surf'...OR....If you have the 'Vanish' spell...there are ways to get to the 'Lost Sea'...without doing either.

*[i]note...If you have 'Vanish'...I'm looking for volunteers to try 'Packrat's Private Passage'.. [img]graemlins/blueblink.gif[/img] ...I found a back door to the 'Lost Sea'....but I don't know if it works in 'All' games...(ei...patched/unpatched, XP etc...)
If you would like to try it....let me know and I'll email a screen shot, of the location.

Yeah, I got there by "Tree Surfing" initially because I was looking for treant seeds for the mage guild quest.

That Maijala is my real lastname... I just use Kalma cause... well I just use it! Don't ask what it mean in finnish!(btw I have Windows XP, but don't know game version or nothing, tought I havn't use any patch)

I don't have teleport yet, I'm training on it, but I have create portal.
But I don't know how it works!

I seek out at the manual at lest when I get teleport, but have you notice that if you're using WinXP you can't minimize game window to go to the desktop...
It's importan to do that when you want to read manual by explorer! or look some maps or text files that you have on your harddrive...
It's no fun to save your game, quit it, and look some text file and run game again... I've printed some maps and text files, like those charts from Best Tips! ( thanks to all who made those litte helpers ) and now oneof my friend intressed W&W too, so I gave him my old maps and etc. and he was really happy of them [img]smile.gif[/img]

Hi Olli,

How the Create Portal and Teleport works is -

Create portal- gives you a point to return to when teleporting.
So, if you cast create portal outside a dungeon, you can then cast Teleport and will return to that dungeon from outside town for example.

So, you need both Teleport and Create portal for it to work. Only one is no good. You can buy Vanish and Create Portal, so Teleport is the one to learn when levelling up.

I know the game doesn't support alt-tabbing to other applications -- in my case, the video display goes haywire and I get to spend a long time trying to line up a mouse I can't see. I've never played in anything but full-screen mode, so I've never tried minimizing the game or switching away; I suspect it's just as unfriendly.

And since I'm that way, I've just gotta ask: what *does* "Kalma" mean in Finnish? I assume it's not "Calm"...

You asked what kalma means...
Well from dictionary:

Kalma: death (syn: death, annihilation, cessation, decease, dying, eradication, extermination, extinction, finish, passing)

Kalmanhaju: smell of death

Kalmankalpea: ashen
ashen-faced
ashy
cadaverous
deathly pale
livid

Kalman- :cadaverous common language

Kalman: deadly

My bigsisters ex-boyfriend gave it to me when playing Deltaforce Landwarrior,
he put character name Olli Kalma. Since that I'm using it as my call in games etc.
It's just that finnish people rarely uses that word, it's quite old and it's so strong word for death. It doesn't mean killing or get killed... It's just when you open old grave you can smell Kalmanhajun kalmantuoksun.
haju=tuoksu.
haju is stink (syn: stench, odour, reek, stink, whiff)
tuoksu is smell (syn: odour, aroma, perfume, scent, smell)
