How can you keep your stronghold when you leave to rescue Imoen?

I don't know how long you have before you lose a stronghold like the thieves guild. I would guess it would be lost in three weeks. It seems like the chapters that take place between when you leave to rescue Imoen, and when you return to Amn would take more than a few weeks. Is it possible to breeze through the chapters fast enough to not lose your stronghold? Or should one stow their cache somewhere else in expectation that they will be lost if kept in the stronghold?

You lose the thieves guild a lot quicker than that. One missed payment to the quotamaster, even if you are ONE day late, you lose it. They're worse than the Tax Office.

You can always get the thieves guild back though - you just need to pay for it.

thieves guild? I didn't know you could have this.
How do I get it??

You need to use a thief as your main controlled character.
