I'm back, this game is impossible to quit (as many of you know). Of course, I bring one of my ever-annoying topics.
I'm starting the series over, going through BGI and BGII with both expansion packs installed (and choice mods). I need a character suggestion, however. Here are the guidelines: -Fun is the main objective. I don't care if I have to reload more than usual, as long as I'm enjoying it, I'm happy. -I'd like a themed character, if possible (yes, I know I've asked for this before). Something along the lines of the Dragon Slayer (a Cavalier with the Dragon Slayer shield, ring, helm, and sword). It isn't necessary, but it'd be fun. -Nothing overpowered, no powergaming. The stat-roll will be between 85 and 95 (of course, if I get higher, then I'm taking it ). -Party, solo, good, neutral, evil etc. don't make a difference. As long as I'm roleplaying, these choices just need to match the character. -There's an alternative to going through the full series without changing my character - creating a character for BGI (something that'll get through at a moderate speed and be entertaining at the same time), and switching to a Monk in BGII. This should be a last resort, however. I believe that's it. I need to catch up to Xen with the post count...bah.

Some general ideas:
The knight party: PC Cavalier Keldorn Mazzy Anomen Nalia (noblewoman) Imoen (damsel in distress) The Holy Liberator (from the Oversight mod): PC Holy Liberator (install BGTutu or BGT) rest of party as the "default" members from BG1 (Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid, Minsc, Dynaheir), and not replacing them when they do not show up in BG2 (and add ToB NPC, just to make it complete). Solo Monk: extra points for doing it on insane with Tactics and Ascension... Chaotic party: CN Wild Mage Minsc Jan Anomen Korgan Haer'dalis (and later ToB NPC, if you choose) "Snake in the Grass": Install the Virtue mod, then play an evil guy. Try your best to get your rep up to 20, while trying to keep your Virtue rating as low as possible (do evil things and still come out smelling like roses...) "Walking the Line": Install the Neutral Trials mod. Play the game doing your best to keep your rep between 8 - 12 all game, and do your best to "keep the balance" at all times. Extra points for using a certain longsword as your favorite weapon. Humor party: PC Jester Minsc Jan Edwin (best if you install the Happy Party mod) Korgan Viconia Just throwing stuff out as it came to mind, just to give you some ideas. Hope that helps!

Well, how about "Nature's Fury"
Minsc Jaheira Cernd Valygar Aerie (I think of the non ranger / druid characters, Aerie is the most in touch with her "natural" side) For the protaganist: Archer or Ranger/Cleric or Druid of some sort. You may also be able to play a sorceror since sorcerous magic is "natural" rather than studied, but you should take some nature-related spells) |

Considering that that party is rather warrior heavy at the moment and that you can need a wizard, I'd say, ditch Aerie anyway, who needs a sixth NPC! Then, make yourself a sorcy.

I'd suggest a extreamly weak mage, maybe 9 or less con..
There's also the old fun of taking the PC and just using a gimped roll, IE 9 str 9 dex and so on, though harder can make the game a lot more fun.. Though using only non magical weapons, it's not viable for some foes, which is a shame cuase they are just the ones you have to kill, but no magical armor or shields.. Try playing a mage with no Evocation school spells, now that IS fun..

[b]This is THE roleplaying way!->Since you can really change weapons between fight (like from big two handed sword to a dagger) don`t change weapon.[/bg How about roleplaying party: Undead Hunter - uses only MoD +2,Amulet of Power, that Axe from Bernard Cavalier - Carsomyr or since in real AD&D (or was it PnP) they use only Shields use shield. Etc... Or try Dual-Weidlers party wich is VERY strong: C/R dual wielding Flails Barbarian dual wielding Bastard Swords F/M dual wielding Katanas F/T dual wielding Daggers |

Another one I was thinking about doing was:
All multiclass party: PC F/T Jaheira Aerie Jan Or... All dualclass party: PC dual class of choice Imoen Nalia Anomen ToB NPC dualed over as soon as you get him Or another one that was mentioned a while back in another thread: Expendable NPCs: Any time NPCs die in your party, don't reload. Either pay to get them raised or go recruit a replacement. Good way to try out a bunch of different NPCs.

Quasi-Spoilers...
. . . . . . The Party That Will Annihilate Itself: Edwin (Will kill Minsc and, in the process, 'accidentally' kill Aerie) Minsc (Will kill Edwin, then go berserk when a 'misflung' fireball kills Aerie) Valygar (Will kill Viconia) Viconia (Will kill Valygar and will be the first to lash out at Cernd) Aerie (Will be killed 'accidentally' by Edwin's fireball if Viconia doesn't do it herself, late at night) Cernd (Will be killed by everyone for spouting inane platitudes about nature) And THEN you can start over with a new fun party like one listed above! What fun!

Magic haters
PC - Wizardslayer Korgan Valygar ... (whatever you want) Rules: no magic casting, all weapons are nonspecial, only enchanted SO - instead of Daystar or Dragonslayer take plain old Long Sword +2.
