I ran into a bug very early in the game. im still in Irenicus' dungeon and im in the room with the question asking djinn(or efreeti). Just killed the ogre mage he summons, but i cant leave the room! when i try to move on, the game crashes. whats up with that?

Which direction are you going in? Perhaps there is an error with goblin animation (just an example) and game cannot load it. Try clearing the Cache (delete everything in your ...\BG2\Cache folder), failing that, reinstall the game, patch and fixpack.

It chrashed when trying to leave the room, no matter which direction. oh well, i restarted my game and it works just fine(though i believe ive just run into a new bug. didnt stick around to see, but it crashed when trying to use the portal to go into the second level of the dungeon).

You will not finish that game.
Try with Cache purging.

I emptied the cache and im doing just fine. just having some tactical problems, but ill figure it out
