There is a clip on the trailers with Gandalf and the Balrag. It looks awesome.
I also enjoyed Tom Bombadil, but have read even Tolkien thought it was added as an after thought. It was a story based on a doll one of his daughters had. A story made well before Hobbits. He added it to add to the world he was creating because it was a story character he wanted to use, not because it was important to LotR. I was surprised to read that because I loved Tom. The fact that Tom Bombadil will be left out is something I read here, but I don't doubt it.
