When you level up, are there levels when you can add attribute points (ie strength, dexterity etc) like in NWN? I couldn't find it in the manual, but the initial distribution was different to nwn where there isn't weighting for higher numbers of attributes (eg to go from 14-15 strength costs 2 points etc) so I thought levelling might be different too.

Also is there a way to set it so you can switch from ranged to melee weapons without going to the character screen? All I have along the bar thingy is my current weapon.

Thanks

Yes, you will be able to bump your attributes up quite often. Also depends on what kind of character you have I believe.

There are a number of ways to create a character based on the 3E rules. The traditional method is 4d6, discard lowest d6 and arrange as desired.

NWN uses the "weighted point buy" system and gives you more total points. This has a tendency to force fewer "double 18" (two abilities with 18) characters because it costs so much more to get 18's.

In IWD you use the "straight point buy" system. You get fewer points to allocate, but it only costs one point per increase. Over-all, they pretty much wash out.

Well, it seems the two responses didn't really answer either question. So, I'll do it ;-P

1. You will get an ability point every 4 levels like you should in every 3rd Ed. game.

2. To change weapons without going back to the character screen single click on a character when they are grouped to show their quick item/spell/weapon bar. Then right click on the weapon you are currently using. It will show a bar with all the weapon slots and simply left click on which one you want.

Just a side note:

My characters are in Chapter 2, they will be level 8 pretty soon. I think I will use a generic memory trainer to bump up their stats a bit... (all minor stats to 15 and all major stats to 20). Mwahahahaah!
