patch is really necessary ?

Is the patch for w&w necessary ?
I'm playing with updated patch.
But some things like short cut to get more $$$$ and exp (bug)
may b useful i guess.

So if i uninstall and reinstall the original game.
It may work i guess ?!
And i have completed dragonspire so far.
Will the bugs still give money and exp ??

The grue morde bug seem to b fixed by patch, i dont get more gold or exp (only once)

haha NO the patch is NOT neccassary. it only enables ppl. who wants to play a NORMAL game by fixing many bugs in the game. so it's ur choice to choose whether to patch or not to patch.........
i tink if u reinstall, those bugs MAY still work (most likely

) if not then u would have to DELETE off the patch if u can find it anywhere in explorer

I don't know if you've read this...But...there's a post by Sazerac, (post #14) that spells out what you get/lose with the patch...(you'll have to click & scroll)...BEST TIPS p. 4

I'm not sure how a Re-install would affect quests that have already been finished....

If you are going to start over....It's a moot point.

...If you want to contine, from where you are....Make sure to copy your 'Save' and 'ROSTER.DAT' files and move them out of the WW folder. Then just drag & drop them on it ...after you install...

A re-install of the game won´t affect your quests IF you save your saved games. Now it´s not necessary to uninstall-->install the game to remove the patch. You only need to copy the following files from CD1 to your W&W directory:[*]D6ITEM.DAT[*]deep6.exe[*]GMDATA.PAK[*]ttoada.l2n (it´s an l not an i)[*]ttoada.nvs
These are the files that the patch replaces. If you overwrite the patched ones with the original files all bug will return

I first applied the patch when I got stuck in Shurugeon Castle. Every time I tried to exit, the game crashed. Since then, I continue to play with the patch.

IMHO, there's no need to worry about gold once you are a member of the warrior or Bushi guild. Arbitrage takes care of that. AS for XP, I seem to end up with more than I really want...

I've never played with the patch. It has helped some players but I never had any problems with the game running on my machine so it was a case of not fixing what wasn't broken.

I'm that way about any patch, not just the one for W&W. If the problems a patch fixes are not present in my game, I don't install a patch.

yea neither do i coz my W&W still works perfectly (not REALLY perfectly juz, PERFECT ok?) so i dun install a patch. n also coz i like some of the bugs inside the game!

I have an assassin with level 15 (need to change).
So becos of the bug i can change role and again become assassin later ???
I think someone had said so.

Ehrrrmmmm... no. I mean..... yes. Well..... maybe.

In general, the only way to become a given class again is to restart the game. That wipes out all your class history. So you could become an assassin again.

Without doing that, though, you get one chance to become an assassin, the first time you enter the thieves guild with the assassin's dagger. If you decline, you're done for good.

However, it does make sense (from a programmer's point of view) that in the unpatched game, you might get asked a second time if you want to become an assassin. So it might happen...

Why don't you try it out later, and let us know if it happens? We'll all be curious to know.
