The Cloak of Sewers' ability to shapechange into a troll, a mustard jelly, and a rat once a day has some great and obvious uses (Troll is a tough fighter with lots of HP with super regeneration, and the jelly has some good resistances) but the rat form?...

Does anyone have any great Cloak of the Sewers suggestions or strategies to offer? (especially if there is a use for rat-ing it up, so to speak?)

I primarily use the Cloak for two reasons:
1. AC bonus of 1
2. Troll shapechange = regeneration = full healing once a day

The only useful form for enemy encounter IMHO is the jelly as it is magically resistant, the Troll is a nice fighter but never as tough as one of your tanks.

I'm not sure, but I'd say the rat gest some wicked AC Bonuses for being so frickin' small. Also good use as a scout, maybe?

BTW

Rat has a wicked physical resistance. Try equiping Defender of Easthaven and then turn into rat - then check the resistances.

I'll have to check on the resistance business - sounds interesting.

I like the cloak because it doesn't conflict with other magical equipment I'm already wearing the way a cloak of protection does.

Use the rat form on a warrior when you are up against Adamantinite Golems while you pound him with the rest of your team.

90% physical resistance means that the golem will be pounding on you for a long long long time while you use your other fighters to kill it

And there's thist very peculiar quest involved where you need the Cloak of the Sewers. When you enter the Bridge District at night when you've solved the skinner murders, you should be approached by a man in green (bottom left of the map). He will ask you to steal something from the Balthis estate, but you can only walk through it unnoticed when you're in rat-form. Figures you need the cloak of the sewers for this job. You get a reward of 10000 gold and two sphene gems for it.

I'm just kidding, you didn't actually believe this story did you?

i'm soloing a kensai at the minute so i'm using cloak of sewers a lot - mainly for AC and the troll regeneration (i've got into the habit of changing before rest to avoid 3 day sleeps and like the image of quietly closing the tavern door and changing in the dark . . . )

got a bit of a shock with the troll when due to my "i've-played-through-BG1-and-i'm-a-bit-of-a-powergamer" 19 STR was reduced by turning into a 12' monster of muscle and sinew to 17 and i could no longer move! oops
