My system...

ASUS M2N4-SLI SAM2 GL A S 2x16 DDR2 4DIM
AMD Athlon 64 X2 DC 4600 2.4 GHz SAM2
1024MB DDRII 533 MHz RAMx2
Western Digital 250GB JS SATA300 8MB 7200rpm
EVGA nVidia GeForce 7600GT 256MB x2 with driver 6.14.10.9371
WindowsXP SP2

My graphics went from this:

to this:

Seemingly overnight. I haven't changed any hardware between the two screens, and they are both from the same server. The only modification I made was to my NWN1 install, I changed the affinity to allow me to play on the dual core processor. This glitch appears on NPC's as well in the OC, and will cut the screen in half during cutscenes, no screen of that, sorry...I reversed the affinity change in NWN's to check, and it had no effect, any ideas?

Edit to reflect second graphics card.

That looks typically like either:
-overheating
-driver issues

If the first, your GPU fan might be dead, or it might be clogged with dirt, check it out. If the second, update drivers. Or if your GPU is simply old, try lowering your graphics quality in game.

As can be seen by the listed stats, I don't think my cards are old, I had the rig built a month ago, all the parts were brand new. No dirt in the fan though, I did check. I have updated drivers, although I already had the current set, it pays to be sure. I'm thinking that heat may still be an issue though. I could use this rig to heat my house currently...What struck me was how fast it happened. One day I was fine, and the next, bang...

Edit: I'm only noticing this in 3D applications, including both NWN's games. However, it doesn't do the elongated shadows and such in 1, just funky blue pixes showing up everywhere. I have some screens of those, but I can't get the images converted to jpeg right now, no software for it. 2 is nice in that it saves them as that format...

Maybe you got supplied with a bad fan for either graphics card or case or cpu. This really does seem like a heating issue .

I did not know that.

Turns out the primary card is quite probably bad. I switched the cards, and it seems to have fixed the problem. I am going to test it out this weekend, and if it becomes a problem again, they'll swap the card out Monday morning. Warranties are so nice...
