So Jan in my six player team will probably never get ninth level spells, being a multi class, so he doesn't get any quest spell options when he levels up. But he does get the option of extra sixth, seventh and eighth level. But my brother's playing a solo fighter thief mage (with the exp. cap removed), and he doesn't even get the option of the extra spells, let alone quest spells, and he's had ninth level spells for ages now. What's up with that? I think that you should get the option for quest spells if you've got ninth level slots to put them in.

purely a balance thing - unless you h lvl20 in a class they would wipe out most mid-level opposition

But he gets all the fighter and thief abilities - Firkraag didn't last long with a time trap and assassination. Why would having comet upset the balance so much?

one word, greater alarcity (sp) with that baby you can time stop then whip out 100+ spells before the time stop end and you will have shitload of lag and fps of -0.00000000000001 but nearly no one can resist that kind of assault, say 1-2 comet, 2 dragon breathe or something, along with something like 20 skull trap, 20 fire ball, 20 chain lighting, 20 magic missile 2000000000 spells of every kind that kind of assault serious nuke mass of enemy and it even nuke the drow, with their high resist but no one i know has been able to stand up to that kind of assault other than a certain few boss mosters.

Edwin could do that just as well as a multi class could, in fact, better since he has more spells and a party to back him up. And how could you cast 20 chain lightning, AND 20 skull trap etc - you'd have to cast them all off scrolls. This is no reason for multi characters not to have quest spells.
And, okay, so no quest spells, but why not the extra sixth, seventh and eighth spells?
