Stupid things. Okay, how's this. With my first serious mage char, I made myself a nice collection of Destruction school spells. All really nifty and whatnot.
As I came upon a certain insane Breton on a bridge, I decided to try out my Poison Torture spell. Poison damage 4 points for 30 seconds, or some such. Ahahaha...as I reloaded, I reminded myself that "on self" is not a useful way to apply destruction spell damage. |

Drowning by over-encumbering myself. I've also drowned by forgetting to pack any of my waterbreathing potions.
Both were inexcusable because the character was a Breton Mage with a very, very, very high Alchemy skill.

Something a bit silly which happened in my most recent game:
I'd played obsessively with my Dunmer Assassin for a couple of hours, doing the final thieves guild quests and preparing myself for the final promotion. Arriving back to Gentleman Jim, he coronates me as new leader and tells me he's going on some permanent vacation. Relieved at the hard work having paid off, I take off my glass boots, helm and armour, and attempt to sleep in my cosy new Master Thief bed...only to have my action reported by my own posse as a crime! I hadn't saved it in awhile, but thank ye autosave, thank ye!

Hmmm...I've done some of the above, and such, like casting "Mark" when I meant to cast "Recall", or hitting F5 instead of F9 (or vice versa).
The worst was one time I trecked out into the middle of nowhere to do one of the Mage Guild dwemer grabbing quests. It was the one in south-central Vvardenfall, in the boonies, with the nearest town Ebonheart a few days off. Minor problem-I forgot to get a certain pair of speedy boots first. Slightly bigger problem-I forgot to learn a recall or intervention spell first. Major problem-I didn't have any items/scrolls of those spells, and my computer is slow. Three hours trecking overland later, I swore to always learn those spells eary in the game. You haven't felt pain till you've trecked over red rock and gray dustlands for hours, just to get home, only to be mugged everytime you try to sleep. If it hadn't been a favorite character I would have dumped him long before *grin*. |
