The Tradeway has changed recently. There are some horrid zit zombies and there are a few Trollbark trolls running around. Both of these are quite tough for new players. I thought that this area was for new players? I like the sharks and scuttly things though.

It's still for newer players. The Trolls are only near the doors to the Troll areas, no where else.
All the other guys are easy to kill for a level 9 character.

Those blighted zombies are pretty tough, and I will admit that the trollbark trolls didn't chase me when I ran away from them. Perhaps my new characters are easily scared?

Yep, the blighted zombies are indeed tough, they aren't that big of an issue until they turn into that blob after their first death though.

Speak for yourself! A single troll developed a taste for dwarf -- chased my lvl 13 fighter over the entire map! Everything else fell relatively easily, but it sure would have been better if that damned troll hadn't been constantly trying to take a nibble!
(Just what does it take to down one of those buggers, anyhow?!)

From my experience with a maximum level character, the Blighted Zombies (in their pus-ooze form) could actually take more hits (as they have some disgusting damage reduction) than the Trollbark Trolls. I found that unnerving. I thought fire or something would do more damage to them, but they consumed that in the same breath as the sword strikes. Maces and warhammers were the only weapons I have used thus far which put them away swiftly.

Strange, I did considerable damage to them with the Burning Rapier, or what ever it is. Couldn't scratch them with anything else...

What is the area? Is it a part of EFU (if so, where is it?) or is it a seperate mod?
