Re: Windows vista?
I think it won't matter if it turns out to be flawless on first release, someone will find something to gripe about. And then they'll get all their friends to gripe about it too.
This of course would then degrade from a legitimate complaint to mob of anti-windows enthusiasts chanting "Windows Sucks!" or something of the like. This of course will continue long after any corrections are made.

Re: Windows vista?
So, for my new build (expect more to come in the next week or so), I'm using 4GB of ram (2x2) as a baseline...and it's name brand RAM, that only cost $34 USD...
BUT, back on topic...the system will be fine for vista if you want vista.

Re: Windows vista?
From personal experience, I have had no gripe with Vista, and I actually prefer it. Having vista on my school laptop and going back home to use XP on our main desktops there, I actually find myself disliking XP. For me Vista is faster, especially boot times.
I've helped build computers for various friends (picking out components and putting it together). All of them at first didn't want to go with Vista, but after some convincing they accepted. So far none of them have had any complaints. IMO, Vista is more or less like XP with a few (smarter) choices. I didn't notice a whole heck of a lot of differences. I find networking easier/more simple in Vista for example. That being said, I do believe people who have had true and genuine problems with it. I consider myself to be fortunate in that I've had no real problems with Vista. But a lot of the bashing comes from hype, which I think is largely unfounded. But once you get an image, it is hard as hell to erase. |

Re: Windows vista?
Aside from the gaming aspects, Vista allows me to make use of really nice features in MS Office 2007 and later for creating professional documents. The features are not available in the XP version...I use both but prefer the Vista environment for work purposes.

Re: Windows vista?
What can you do in Office 2007 under Vista that you can't do in Office 2007 under XP? I'm curious... I thought they were the same.

Re: Windows vista?
The ribbon in Vista is much more functional and the functions in word when laying out TOC's and things like sourcing is much more organic. At least to me. I know many of my co-workers prefer XP's version as they know where everything they want already is, But I like Vista's Ribbon.
