When you first played the game, did you get the impression that something was incomplete about Kresslack? That he was supposed to play a bigger part in the events, but then the designers left him out? I mean not necessary in the main plot, but that initially we were supposed to learn more about him, like his past and so on, but then for some reason he got left out.
I mean, you come to Kuldahar, and everybody is talking Kresslack this Kresslack that. The biggest hero ever and so on. You got to the vale and there you keep hearing references about his past and what happened to him. Also about Auril, you keep hearing about her, Kresslack talks about her... Also one more thing, Kresslack is one of the few characters who has actually a voice in his dialogue. Only precious few, most important characters (Hrothgar, Arundel...) have voices. Kresslack does too.APRIL'S FOOL And then... nothing. You just kill the priestess, Kresslack tells you he has nothing to do with it and that's it. You don't learn about his past. And neither he nor auril have anything else to do with the game (ok, except the mage in the wyrm's tooth who tries to avenge the priestess.) The whole vale of shadows could just as well have been removed without affecting the story. Anyway... it turns out I was right. I just by chance went back to Kresslack after completing Severed Hand, and... he has more to say. He gives you a tiny quest that you can complete. The quest itself is extremely easy and really nothing major, but it is extremely funny . The dialogue is amazing. I actually reloaded to check out all the different dialogue options. In order to have him give you the quest you must first complete the Severed hand then go and talk to him. And no... auril doesn't have anything to do with this quest. In fact I believe this is not what the designers had in mind initially. They did want him (and auril) to play a bigger role, but when his role got cancelled they just added this small quest as something funny. Anyway, I won't spoil you more. You have to try this yourself.

You might have fooled me, but it's my policy not to believe anything I see or hear on April 1.

Fooled me. And by "fooled me" I of course mean I tried it out...
