Try fighter (you can dual class him/her in BG2), or ranger or paladin.

Forget the character, does she have a sister?

Paladin is my fav (laying of hands helped me soo many times, and when paly gets to be 15 level, healing 30 hp in a touch comes in handy.

Run while you still can! Everquest is an addictive game and should only be played if your ready to completely ruin your social life

If you want to have some fun, try a rogue, bard or thief. The most frustrating thing is when you get a NPC thief that has his points in a skill that you don't use. So, solve your problem by creating one.

I am pretty sure that a monk can't be dualled. Ranger would be a good choice, but I'm partial to thieves myself. Can't guarantee those NPC's will have what it takes.

Does your gf realise she won't see you for months? Possibly even years?
