Erstale's apprentice's Robe

Description:

"...
among the children of the light
be ware
of the ones with bright eyes

they are the bringers of fire,
the tillers of soil,
the husbanders of animals
the crafters of magic
the masters of arcane

be ware! be ware!
drink not their blood, for they will ensnare you.
learn and watch
watch and learn
from them

"Vamperic mage was truely a foul thing. If there was anything in the world of Faerun matched a vampiric mage, if not based on power but the evilness itself, there was only the vamperic mage himself."

This robe belonged to Hurricaer Vullitus, a dark necromecor. It was granted by his master, a gentle illusionist named Erstale Vullitus, who also adopted Hurricaer as a son.

Hurricaer grew up at the dark streets of Luskan. Most children of similar fate would of gone into a career of thievery or assasination. Hurricaer was different. He believed he deserved a better fate then, so strong that he believed, though poor and physically weak, he never turned into a thief. Except some occansions he hadn't had food for more than a week, he never put his hand into a pocket that didn't belong to him. When he was a bit older, some of the local rogues came to him, and tried to "convince" the stubborn boy to join their business. Try as they might, Hurricaer never backed down. Eventually, the locals grew tired of him and since he was that much of a threat, they left him alone.

When Hurricaer was a bit older, he would always sat on top of the hill that located east of the city, watching Hostte Tower, the tallest and most fascinating building of the city, with wonder and imagination for hours. Being unusually mature at his age, he had overheard quite lot about this real power that functioned city of Luskan. And he knew that if he was a member of the Hostte Tower, his life would be different then.

Unfortunately, Lady Tymora never smiled upon him. Disappointed, Hurricaer sneaked into a boat that was departing to Amn, a southen country that was supposed to be full of promises, opportunities and fortunes.

The little adventurer was to be caught and thown into the sea to feed the sharks, had it not been Erstale Vullitus, an old kind illusionist bumped into him. Both lonely while strong in mind, the two quickly became friends. The old man loved Hurricaer as a son, and he gave Hurricaer his own family name.

Erstale was a local resident of Amn, and he took Hurricaer with him, and taught him magic. To the old man's surprise and joy, Hurricaer was extremely talented. The young man worked hard, day and night, Erstale could always saw the faint light came out of the boy's room.

Erstale was truely apleased and proud at this young apprentice. To reward his apprentice's effort, Erstale hired the best semstress, and bought the best clothing and made this robe for him.

This is Erstale's tradmark as well as his one of his proud inventions. The spell alow the caster to disguse his appearance into the chosen target at will. "Vamperic mage was truely a foul thing. If there was anything in the world of Faerun matched a vampiric mage, if not based on power but the evilness itself, there was only the vamperic mage himself."

------------------------------------------- Magius Magistrate

This ring was enchanted during Hurricaer's early days when he was still a pupil at the area of arcane necrometic magic. Though as young as he was, this ring was already an incredible evil artifact that enlengthed his graspe to unfold the dark knowledge.

One day, it was past DeepWatch, Erstale walked into Hurricaer's room, and he saw the weary boy slept on his desk. Wanting to help him to his bed, Erstale walked up to him silently. It was an accident that the book Hurricaer was reading fell to the ground, then Erstale picked it up and glanced it quickly out of curiousity. To his striking horror, the book was a dark lore, a book of curse, immortality and blood sacrificing. (hmmm, sounds like american teenagers, violent TV shows and such....anyway)

The incident angered Erstale. The old man hated evil magic and everything connected to it. He commanded Hurricaer to give up his dark proficient, no matter how much he angered, the stubborn Hurricaer did not back down. He had always been a stubborn one! Hurt and disappointed, Erstale banished Hurricaer from his house, and never wanted to see him again.

Houseless, Hurricaer lived on streets once more, but not for long. The Shadow Thieves were the ruling guild of Amn, though Hurricaer had no love with thieves, he knew better than to cross them. Even sweeter, his talents served him a great deal to gain acceptence, if not trust among the guild. Now Hurricaer were free to practice his arts, sometimes, he would stay in his room for days researching and studying, and sometimes, he would gone to graveyard secretly during the darkest night.

He met a merchant from eastern country Kozakura of Kara-tur, and bought a rare bloody red gem named Tsue-hunshi. Using the gem, he enchanted a ring that he desired for a long time. After the completion of the ring, he was ready to act out his plan.

Hurricaer, twisted by hatred and hellish greed, disgused himself as his mentor, Erstale Villitus. Then he went to the local government, and revealed many secret plans of Shadow Thieves. Though the cunning Shadow Thieves didn't suffer the consequence, they were angered and they plotted a vengence on the real Erstale, who was still unaware of the treachery. Hurricaer, unusually excited, volunteered to execute the plan.

Erstale was caught off-gaurd. He never thought shadow thief would have anything to do with him in his life! Even worse, he could not believe Hurricaer, whom he treated like his son, was the one in charge of the assasination. The murder stabbed a dagger in the old man's chest, and his lifeblood ran down his robe like a red stream of river. Breathless, the old man tried to question Hurricaer and he saw Hurricaer, his son, walked towards him with a mad, devilish twisted smile on his face. Bend down, Hurricaer slowly hold up a ring towards the dying man. Whispering a secret magical command, the ring began to glow, the entrancing light seemed to have its own life. The red light danced and danced, as if they were the spilling blood of Erstale himself's, and the world around Erstale began to fade...

Stats:
Type: ring
Special:
Life Drain three charges:

If the creature is unconcious and close to death(knocked out by fist, or by other means), the wielder can perform a level drain on the creature. The target is NOT able to avoid the effect due to the stats of his health.

The result has the following effect:

If the target is the same proficient as the wielder of the ring, the wielder will instancely gain 30% knowledge of the target. (30% spell levels, weapon skills as well as target's 30% experiences)

The wielder instancely know everything the target knew.

If the target is of different proficent as the wielder, the target will only lose 30% of his experiences.

Note: different magic schools will still be restricted. (like a necromecor cannot drain illusion spells) also, after the drain, the target is dead, and cannot be ressurrected. The drained experience is PERMENANTLY added to the wielder

Usable by:
Evil characters only
Mages, or cleric

(Chronicle of Shadow's copy right belongs to Book of Nod)

Regarding Erstale's apprentice's Robe, nice story ... too bad I am unfamiliar with the locations or the novels. Interesting spell too, although my was expecting a "darker" spell due to the initial descriptions.

So, I see both items are related to Hurricaer....ah....the ring has a much "darker" tale attach.

Both items sounds nice 250, I'm impressed by the amount of detail you put into these proto-type items.

Now, this is a selection I like to see. Not overwhelming (lots of people posted +4/3 items with death effects). How about some sort of item that changes your aura to that of an Undead (maybe an unwanted side-effect of the Changeing spell?)

what do you mean change aura? who does? please be a little bit more specific please?

btw, you are right too many items are highly enchanted with death effect, but as long as it is balanced (i really mean balanced, HEAVY penalty), they are acceptable.

What I mean is, is that for all intents and purposes (detection spells, undead-bane spells and weapons), the wielder is classified as Undead. Is that possible to do with the editor?
