Underdark, the imprisoned mage ... spoiler

I got this quest to free an imprisoned mage in the underdark ...
he was, so it seems, imprisoned by an imprisonement-spell in a cave
"to the north".
Now the only north-cave i could find was the really dark one, which houses the silver dragon, but i've been casting so much freedom-spells that you'd expect there to be no jail left standing .... L(
Where is this Mage ??
i just cant find him ..

Go roughly to the bit in the middle of the three elemental gates-where the elementals keep appearing and cast your freedom spell there. That ought to do it.

Incidently pick pocket him a lot before you take on his quest it'll be well worth it I promise.

That's strange, everytime I'm in the underdark (no matter where) and I cast freedom, I get the text that a mage has been freed in the middle of the map or something like that
