Does insane difficulty give your character the double damage bonus as well as your enemies?

Is there a shortbow somewhere to be found in Irenicus'dungeon cause I can't remember finding one but I don't search for it usually.

Is there a good tactic for the mephits in the pocketplane of air (the ones in the big platform before the stairs to the djinni). I'm playing a swashbuckler level 8 prof 3 in dual wield 1 in longsword. I wield longsword +1 and longsword (but can find some other weapons first if that's better) and now solo on insane (till I get Kelsey)

Is the damage you receive the same as the text box says cause mephits are still dealing 2 damage most of the time or do I have to multiply it.

Do the monsters get additional (special) attacks on insane cause this (I think ice) mephit in the room with the capsules is throwing this special thingie doing much more damage than a normal mephit did (on insane so it's not the double damage) at me a couple of times before going melee.

Yeah, right.

Remember those goblin packs? Four axe-wielding, two archers. (Or are those longbows?) Nonetheless, there surely is shortbow somewhere.

Multiply? Oooh-kaaay...
Check how much HP you lose, and how much text box shows. It is the same, isn't it?

Perhaps, but not likely.

What would be the point of Insane then?

Enter the room with all the tanks (jars).
In the closest crate.
@Vedran - Yes, the Goblins carry Composite Long Bows.
Which means that they have 18 STR... Some tough goblins!

Solo Swashy?
Hit & Run...
Set some traps if you can, and lure the mephits.

The damage in the textbox is the damage you suffer, yes.

Some monsters (Weimer's Mods, Ascension, etc) and areas (Watcher's Keep, Temple Ruins, Windspear Hill, etc) adjust the difficulity level according to the level of the PC and/or the party.

Alson's got some good points.

If insane doubled your damage too then you're still just as likely to kill an enemy as on core difficulty, so no it doesn't.

Alson's right about there being a shortbow in the jar room. There is also one in the same room where you battle Ilyich. On a table in the lower part of the room (x=1923,y=590).

Having trouble with the memphits in the air plane? Remember that you don't need to kill everything when you solo. Use your classes special abilities....you're a thief so hide in the shadows and sneak by .

If you're running SoA+ToB with no mods then there are no special attacks resulting from increased difficulty. Remember some memphits have specicial stun attacks as well as elemental and melee attacks.

My swashbuckler has points in detect trap open lock and detect illusion (+ the points you can't distribute yourself) so hiding won't work but with the bow and hit&run it will be a lot easier than with just 2 longswords.

I know that but it looked like this mephit in the jar room (the one near the crate with the quartersytaff +1 shot 4 of those balls but maybe I've just mistaken melee for the speical balls. But do mephits on insane do only 2 damage each melee attack,(not much I was killed by goblin doing 20 damage)?
