This information was passed on to me from Mark (Skywalker) on the forum, so please credit him, not me.

To get a Vampire character (one whose been bitten by Lysandra, for example) to be able to use Vampire bite, equip a non-weapon such as a shield or lantern in your right-hand slot. It's the same principle as the 2nd punch or kick in Kung Fu.

Many thanks to Mark for providing this information: his character, who is now a Vampire, is going back out to take on the Mantraps again one-on-one.

Gael Serran Examiner Sports Edition update forthcoming. Stand by, sports fans!

Hi,
It seems to work with a second weapon in the left hand also, though I'm not sure if it does with a bow (can't see why not).

It is a little strange that biting certain creatures restore life to the vampire, but others don't.

Undead Ronins can be drained whereas Wraiths and Ghost types do not.
Mantraps don't, but Swampflies do.
You don't get anything from biting barrels and crates either.
Thanx, for the credit Saz!

Mark

Just out of interest, is that the character's right hand or the one on the right hand side of their packspace (in other words their left hand). Since shields don't fit in the Weapon hand space I suppose you mean the shield hand space but a clarification would be nice.

Shield hand space, Balgin. On the right side. The only place, AFAIK, that you can carry a non-weapon...

Saz,

Hmm, you know my character (Zijana) who went through the game as a Vampire was always able to bite characters, but granted she had to be close. Oddly enough, when I installed the patch (which may not have been a wise move looking back), she could no longer bite. I do recall HPI saying the patch would fix the biting bug....but it seemed to make it worse.

I'll try the Kung Fu trick and see how it works, since she is a bare handed fighter anyway, she should be fine.

Hmm, and I think that Vesper, my Pixie Zenmaster is up for the challenge. How is that, bare handed and no magic...up against some Mantraps? Or maybe a Jungle Lily....its a worthy battle!

Now, if someone could do it WITHOUT any armor of any kind, I'd be most impressed!

I may give it a go with my 16th level monk and find out!

Scronan!
Shiva is trying to be humble, but she says she fought off 2 Mantraps in her underwear! It was just after dawn and still a little chilly!

She says beat that with your Pixie Zenmaster!

My Vampire is Ezra, and she bites whether she is armed with one or two weapons (as long as "Vampire Bite" is on) and she will throw an axe if out of range for a bite or a weapon. It is funny how some ghost do give life bites and some don't. For example, the ghost guards in Skull Castle who kept telling me I could pass for awhile, ended up being supper in the end and providing full life back to Ezra.
