Are there any other benefits of Intelligence for wizards other than the level of spells possible to cast and lots of skill points? Thanksss.

I could be wrong, but I think that the aurora engine gives bonus "spells per day" based on your intelligence multiplier. i.e.:
int. =12, gives an extra level 1 spell per day to your base.
int. =14, gives an extra level 2 spell per day to your base.
int. =16, gives an extra level 3 spell per day to your base.
etc.

it SHOULD also give greater spell penetration in a similar progression as above, but wether it does or not is anyones guess.

In the manual at page 69 (European version) there's a table with bonus spells per day. It's a bit different from what ScottG says but more like normal p&p.

If you have an int lower than 10 you can't cast spells with the ability. So a wizard with Int lower than 10 can't cast spells as would a sorcerer with Cha lower than 10

On the US version its page 72, and I was correct, though perhaps not as clear as I could have been.

The effect is cumulative:

ex.
int.=14 gives an extra level 2 spell + you have the extra level 1 spell from meeting the int.=12 requirement. In other words with an intelligence of 14 a WIZARD* gets an extra level 1 spell and an extra level 2 spell to cast per day.

however what isn't as obvious is that the progression adds additional spells per day at level 20 and above. i.e. at int.=20 a Wizard gets 2 bonus spells per day at level 1. At int.=22 its 2 at level 1 and 2 at level 2.. etc.

btw, apparently intelligence does factor into spell resistance - at least as claimed by the manual:

"Intelligence is important for Wizards because it affects how many spells they can cast, how hard their spells are to resist, and how powerfull their spells can be."

*Note that bonus spells for intelligence applies only to Wizards, whereas Charisma applies to Sorcerers & Bards. And no doubt spell resistance for these two classes is also based on Charisma.
