Doug "Fresh" Myres, a founding member of G.O.D. Games and their VP of New Media, died Thursday after a severe asthma attack. He was 36. He had not been ill, so no one saw it coming, making his death even harder to understand for his friends and family. Everyone I've spoken with knew Doug as one of the friendliest, easy-going people you would ever want to know. Those of us at GameSpy who dealt with him have to agree. Our condolences to Gathering of Developers and his family. You left way too soon, Doug. You will be missed.

How sad. So young! And what a loss to the gaming community.

I feel the need, the need to *bump*
Peeps in the gaming community may have heard of him, but still may not know what happened.

That's very tragic.
Unfortunately asthma can be like that, it is more dangerous than many people realise and can strike without much warning; although illness such as a common cold, flu or a chest infection can trigger an attack in asthma sufferers, bad attacks mostly happen without illness as it is usually caused by either allergy to pollen, dust or dustmites, increased pollution such as car fumes on hot days, stress or exertion. I suffer from it but not badly. A childhood friend of my brother's died of asthma when he was just 13.

My heart goes out to this young man's family and friends.
