I get a call from them every couple of days. I just say that I don't have the time (lunch) or just hang up the phone.

Sometimes I do.....they are really annoying. And sometimes they don't get the names right. Once, I got a call calling for 'Mr. Doe', which was weird. My mom's last name is Doe, but she's single!!!

Donut won a free conservatory the other day, he kept the salesman on the phone for about ten minutes...before telling him he lived on the 3rd floor.

We got a phone call from a telemarketer this morning!
They are so annoying, they won't leave you alone, it's like you have to jump through the phone and hit them over the head or something just to put some sense into them.

Looks like those stupid companies are going after people with handphones now. I start to get SMS from these companies. Last night midnight I got an SMS from one. imagine that at midnight also they won't stop. Should have put the phone at discreet. Arghhh! Woke me up only. grrrr..

You could always use the guaranteed conversation stopper...

"He died, you sick b**tard"

Be interesting to see what the telemarketing scripts have to say about that one.

You should never slam the phone down on them - we've done this, and they rang back after waiting long enough for mum to go back to what she was doing and slammed the phone down on her. I don't like to be rude to them, it's not their fault their company has a policy of invading people's privacy. Same with McDonald's workers who ask if you want fries

The most annoying lately are the real estate agents who call telling you someone recently sold a home in your area and are you interested in selling. I have to wonder how much business they actually get from that practice - are people really sitting around wishing they could offload their house if only an real estate agent would contact them for their business?

I am anxiously awaiting my call from the prime minister, though - we're in a marginal electorate and a bunch of people in the neighbourhood have had theirs...

My friend's dad had a problem like this. One day a telemarketer called him and he said "Hold on a minute I must murder someone." He got a chainsaw and started it up and started screaming and later he went back on the phone. "You were saying" The other line was silent. True story too

Telemarketers are funny! They let you annoy them while safely away behind kilometres of phone line. They can do nothing because doing something nasty to you won't boost their sales. And you don't even have to pay for it! Ask stupid and hard-to-answer questions, like "So, this magazine of yours, are you saying I have to pay for it!?", "What makes your product better than all the other products?" or "can you help me? I just set a door-to-door salesman on fire and theres ash all over the place!" Also complain about line being bad and ask him to speak louder, so he/she/it will be yelling things like "No, we don't take snow as payment!" It's so sad I'm never getting calls from telemarketers anymore.
