On US political maps, the color Red or Blue is used to indicate a state's stance in a poll or election, with Red indicating Republican dominance and Blue indicating Democratic.

This Slate Poll can help you figure out which color you are(in case you weren't sure ).

The questions used in this poll are probably unfair to our international friends, but it's all in fun, so give it a try anyway.

I know how hard it is to pin me down on one side of an issue or the other, so I've posted my results to help clear things up.

Almost right in the middle, but I think that is more a function of my accumulation of random trivia then anything.

It said I'm a little bit red. Must be due to living in the Midwest USA and knowing what the Quad Cities are.

Funnily enough, in Aussie politics the Blue party is the Liberals (our version of your onservatives) and the red party is the Labour Party (friend to all unions and the would be social conscience of the nation).

The reds being the leftists in OZ it becomes all to appropriate to voice the old epithet "I'd rather be dead than red" . That means you states people have your colours all mixed up when you associate the right side of politics with the colour red.

I came out as a sort of light pink .

No, no, we associate the wrong side of politics with the red.

Why do they call themselves liberal in Oz??

I think you associate the wrong side with the word "liberal" as well...

Well, I'm just asking how? I'd like to understand why US Democrats/left wing/"liberal" are not considered liberal over there and why what we call "conservatives" are considered liberal.

Here in Italy the red are communist, the conservative are blue and all of them are s... wait can't say that . However the right / left colors are the opposite of the US.
BTW I ranked middle, since I answered at random.

You mean like George "War Spending Spree Valley Girl" Bush? Hmm... interesting this notion of what is liberal, and what is conservative. Oh, the power of the definition. I'd say righties are economically conservative, because they want to: cut taxes, especially for their rich cronies, spend lots on their cronies' programs, cut social programs that don't benefit cronies, and generally KEEP the STATUS QUO between the haves and the have-nots. Just a thought.
