I own every one of these songs on CD, and I'm now ripping more off my new CD-ROM which has a Digital connector now, and pulling them off this new CDROM (it's a 40/12/40) and MAN, converting CD's to MP3's is very fast.. (I own way too many CD's!) Here is a list of most of my CD's that I converted to MP3's--so many to list, I just did screenshots lol! Some are very old, some are my Wifes CD songs..

Azure... actually the music you are listening to right now wouldn't exist if it weren't for the eighties. The first black and death metal stems from that period, and some of the goth bands above had their influence on metal as well. Some of my own 80s favourites: Depeche Mode, Sisters, Fields of the Nephilim, Queensryche, The Mission, Dead Can Dance...
Ahhh the Nephilim/Nifilim!! Forgot Lydia Lunch!! I'm mostly into metal, but one of my other passions is Ska - and of course the 2-tone Ska revival (inspired by Jamaican Ska of the '60s which I also love) happened here in the early 80s.
Bands such as The Specials, The Selecter, The Beat, The Bodysnatchers and Madness became popular, often covering songs recorded by such greats as Prince Buster. Think up-tempo off-beat guitar rhythms and brass, Rude Boys, pork-pie hats, and 'the skank'. Here are some lyrics: The Specials - Too Much Too Young Jerry Dammers / Lloyd Charmers You've done too much much too young Now you're married with a kid when you could be having fun with me oh no, no gimme no more pickni You've done too much much too young Now you're married with a son when you should be having fun with me we don't want, we don't want we don't want no more pickni Ain't he cute? No he ain't He's just another burden on the welfare state You've done too much much too young Now you're married with a kid when you could be having fun with me no gimme,no gimme,no gimme no more pickni Call me immature Call me a poser I'd love to spread manure in your bed of roses Don't want to be rich Don't want to be famous But I'd really hate to have the same name as you (you silly moo) You've done too much much too young Now you're married with a kid when you could be having fun with me gi we de birth control, we no want no pickni You've done too much much too young Now you're chained to the cooker making currant buns for tea oh no, no gimme no more pickni Ain't you heard of the starving millions Ain't you heard of contraception Do you really a program of sterilization Take control of the population boom It's in your living room Keep a generation gap Try wearing a cap __________________________ The Beat - Mirror In The Bathroom Mirror in the bathroom please talk free The door is locked just you and me. Can I take you to a restaurant that's got glass tables You can watch yourself while you are eating. Mirror in the barthroom I just can't stop it, Every Saturday you see me window shopping. Find no interest in the racks and shelves Just a thousand reflections of my own sweet self, self, self... Mirror in the bathroom You're my mirror in the bathroom You're my mirror in the bathroom You're my mirror in the bathroom... Mirror in the bathroom recompense For all my crimes of self defense. Cures you wisper make no sense Drift gently into mental illness. Mirror in the bathroom please talk free The door is locked just you and me. Can I take you to a restaurant that's got glass tables You can watch yourself while you are eating. Mirror in the bathroom Mirror in the bathroom...

And of course I liked some other 80s stuff (well late 70s/early 80s) that wasn't metal - especially The Clash, The Jam and The Stranglers.
More lyrics: The Jam Going Underground Some people might say my life is in a rut, But I'm quite happy with what I got People might say that I should strive for more, But I'm so happy I can't see the point Something's happening here today A show of strength with your boy's brigade And I'm so happy and you're so kind You want more money, of course I don't mind To buy nuclear textbooks for atomic crimes And the public gets what the public wants But I want nothing this society's got I'm going underground (going underground) Well the brass bands play and feet start to pound Going underground (going underground) Well let the boys all sing and let the boys all shout for tomorrow Some people might get some pleaseure out of hate Me, I've enough already on my plate People might need some tension to relax Me, I'm too busy dodging between the flak What you see here is what you get You've made your bed, you better lie in it You choose your leaders and place your trust As their lies wash you down and their promises rust You'll see kidney machines replaced by rockets and guns And the public wants what the public gets But I don't get what this society wants I'm going underground (going underground) Well the brass bands play and feet start to pound Going underground (going underground) Well let the boys all sing and let the boys all shout for tomorrow We talk and talk until my head explodes I turn on the news and my body froze These braying sheep on my TV screen Make this boy shout, make this boy scream Going underground, I'm going underground I'm going underground, I'm going underground ________________________________ The Clash The Guns of Brixton When they kick at your front door How you gonna come? With your hands on your head Or on the trigger of your gun When the law break in How you gonna go? Shot down on the pavement Or waiting on death row You can crush us You can bruise us But you'll have to answer to Oh-oh, the guns of Brixton The money feels good And your life you like it well But surely your time will come As in heaven, as in hell You see, he feels like Ivan Born under the Brixton sun His game is called survivn' At the end of the harder they come You know it means no mercy They caught him with a gun No need for the Black Maria Goodbye to the Brixton sun You can crush us You can bruise us Yes, even shoot us But oh-oh, the guns of Brixton When they kick at your front door How you gonna come? With your hands on your head Or on the trigger of your gun You can crush us You can bruise us Yes, even shoot us But oh-oh, the guns of Brixton Shot down on the pavement Waiting in death row His game is called survivin' As in heaven as in hell You can crush us You can bruise us But you'll have to answer to Oh-oh, the guns of Brixton

Prince wrote several songs for other artists during the '80's. In addition to the songs for Sheena Easton, he also wrote - Manic Monday by the Bangles I Feel for You by Chaka Khan (was actually a cover of a song from one of Prince's early albums). I know he wrote a few more songs that were big hits for other artists, but I'm drawing a mental blank right now. I knew I was forgetting a well-known one. He also wrote and performed a song entitled Nothing Compares 2 U. Sinead O'Connor did a cover of the song years later. [ 07-08-2002, 02:39 PM: Message edited by: Cerek the Barbaric ]
