Cool picture of the inauguration
This is awesome! Here's the details of how he created it:
http://www.davidbergman.net/blog/200...gural-address/ And here's viewing it fullsized in a browser. Maximize your browser window to see it. You can zoom all the way in to see Obama's face! http://gigapan.org/viewGigapanFullsc...648c2b4b06233c Yes, there are a few technical glitches in there, like the guy two rows behind Obama with two faces. Still damned impressive...

Impressive! My dad is interested in digital photgraphy. Maybe I should e-mail him this.

Wow! What an amazing way to sense the massive scope of the event. Truly a historic day.

Re: Cool picture of the inauguration
I don't understand the big deal?
The whole thing was on TV from every angle, or so I understand.

Re: Cool picture of the inauguration
It's a technology geek thing
The picture is 1,474 megapixels in size. A *GOOD* digital camera will do 10 MP today... that's nearly 150 times better. The difference shows up in image quality. Try to zoom in that close on a regular image... you soon end up in pixel-land. This one doesn't even come close, even when it starts getting fuzzy near the end. You can see details of faces on people in the crowd... way back in the crowd, far beyond the cheap seats. You can't do that on television

Re: Cool picture of the inauguration
I was amazed at how close you could zoom in on faces way back in he crowd too, altho it started getting fuzzy when I got to the people sitting on the sculpture.
I also found a few more glitches, but overall, very very cool. Glitches 1. Girl in purple jacket at far end of the band stage, below Obama. 2. Another two-faced guy 4 rows directly behind Bush. 3. Black guy on a side platform (between photographer and Obama - look down and to the left). Top of his head is missing. That's all I saw after a few minutes of browsing. I'm sure there are more, but overall, the detail and quality is unbelievable.

Re: Cool picture of the inauguration
Ok, I get it now. I did not zoom in far enough to appreciate it.
I do enjoy photography, but on a different level.
