How come I haven't seen this
 in the library before?  Toot033 has it right, BTW.... enjoy that strange feeling of isolation for a bit. It will disappear shortly, and may never return. Last time I remember it was when we brought our daughter home from the hospital. After a C-section and several days in there, when the door shut I realized it was truly just the two of us (and her, of course)... no one else to help out. 'Course, that's not really true, with friends, family, and whatnot, but it felt a lot like what I think you were feeling there.

Hey, because I have nothing better to do.
I'm trying to get on with people but it's going slowly. I spend most of my time having some kind of burst of depression in my room. I half know two people, one of which I only see for lectures, and the other is about four years older and shows me around. I don't know my flatmates names, and a lot of people around here don't seem to want to know me. I try and talk to them, and it doesn't go well. I haven't had the courage to leave my room on my own, and I'm an hour by train from my boyfriend, sister and several friends (who all live at Southampton).

Keep your chin up DS! I remember feeling the same way that no one wanted to talk to either, but I bet everyone is pretty much thinking the same thing that no one want to talk either. Once I realized that, it got a lot better!
