Once the Vale of Shadows section has been completed, you end up with quite a few keys in your inventory - is it safe to get rid of these, or are any of them needed beyond the Vale of Shadows?

No, you don't need them anymore. Just sell them in kuldahar.

Thats why I appreciate those RPGs that the key disappears from your inventory when you unlock the only door in the game it was ment to unlock.
