... that in a world where practically everyone and his mother has a magic item, where some of the most powerful items ever created are simply sold in stores, the npc's that can join your party are lucky to have even one pathetically basic magic item? jan and keldorn are the only ones who barely look like they went adventuring to get to their level (just remember ALL the stuff you had in bg1, and that was only to 7th level or so).

p.s. i hate worlds where a +2 sword is considered crappy, even if i am fighting dragons.

Good point but you have to consider that it be much easier if we all had magic items.

Yes, but how about fighting a level 14 hero and finding they are armed with... a staff... nothing else, just a staff....

I thought Haer'Dalis' swords were pretty cool..there's a noticible difference in an opponent once he's stolen some dex from them.

And in some of the NPC's cases, they *haven't* been adventuring. Nalia's a rich-girl wannabe, Aerie's been in a circus, etc.

It does kind of stink a little, but really, it's EASY to re-equip all the party members as you go out questing. Gold is earned for spending, after all.

True, that is one of the reasons I like "V". Yeah, thats the only one. Or Drow warriors with basic crap, compared to what is available.

Or the mage that casts time stop only to find him dead wearing a robe of cold resistence.

All the people that looked like they did some adventuring has better equipment than the ones that look like they never went adventuring in their whole life.
