I have found 2 buttons in the Crypt. One is in the "coffin area" before you enter the wizard/warrior path, another one is in the Asylum. What are the buttons doing? I haven't detected any action or any difference whether they are pushed or not.

There are actually TWO buttons in the coffin area hidden behind stacked crates. They open nearby walls leading to hidden rooms with treasure.

There is one button in the asylum that is kinda hard to see unless you are using some torchlight spell...on a wall next to some bones hanging in some chains? If that is the one you are talking about there, it opens up a passage that you can access on your way to Scabban. It will take you to the chest on the ledge that you may have seen as well as another room with another chest.
