I have yet to start BG II and I was wondering what are some of the most powerful melee classes? My cousin and myself beat BG I so Im not a complete noob lol...however with all these kits and such I feel like one. Can you guys give me some powerful melee classes? It doesnt matter if I am good or evil. Appreciate it

one of the more interesting classes for a melee fighter is for a kensai (a.k.a. sword saint). You get some pretty wicked proficiencies with a sword, although you cannot wear armor or bracers or helmets, and you cannot use a shield. It's kinda sweet when you can walk up to an enemy and dole out 35+ points of damage in a single swipe though!

Half Orcs are excellent for melee fighters. A half orc beserker or barbarian is the best melee warrior IMO.

I would suggest a beserker I'm playing one and he rocks big time. They have all the bonuses of a straight fighter plus a beserk rage that makes them imune to many nasty things like imprisionment, confusion and hold. The only drawback is they can only specialise in ranged weapons but this isn't much of a drawback when there purpose is for melee fighting anyway. An excellent class!

The strange thing is that the beserker's state of mind protects him from imprisonment.

Oh and I forgot to mention for some real fun be evil and give your beserker grandmastery in two-handed swords. You'll meet another beserker in the game who is evil and wields axes and these two make an awesome team! Nodody can stop my two beserkers ahh it's such fun . And I forgot to mention welcome to ironworks forums!

Get a barbarian. Unless you have the Baldurdash Grand Mastery mod, the payoffs for getting a barb are enormous. More hp, rage that doesn't **** you over afterwards, and you can still use any weapon. Best of all, with either DoE+2 (check Dundee's post,) or Shadow/White Dragon Scale, you don't need to worry about the armor restrictions.

Yeah but with the grandmastery patch beserkers become a lot more useful. The barbarian rage is superior to the beserker's except it doesn't prevent against imprisonment and it is too shoort IMO.

The Half-Orc is probably the best race for a fighter, but if you want to try out the Kensai kit, you have to be human. Plus if you want to be able to experience the romances you will not be able to have them if your pc is Half-Orc. The ladies WILL not romance him. Just something to keep in mind.
