I did it again...
I thought that I would never have to face that slime monster, never again! Ok. Everything started last night, when Ratli got mission to retrieve some stupid coins from Serpent Temple. If that Rogues guild owner are that good counterfeit coins as he claims to be, I would not have to get into that temple anymore... After long traveling in quiete hallways I met Kreug. Kreug is the most annoying cultist I ever met! I get mission to kill some slime monster and steal snake figurine. I never get into that figurine. I put my smallest men into lead and tried to swim backwards and climb into walls and jump like a kangaroo... But I wasn't able to get pass that thicky cave... After I feeled like my lungs are going to explode, I have to leave that thing over there. Does anyone know where I could buy copy of that figurine? ( Ofcource I mean, can I edit it into my packpage... ) Wyvern? Radek? Packrat? Who was that guru on editing this game? I really need that figurine to carry on my mission. And yes, I tried Vanishing allready

1. The Vanish spell is the most efficient way here. If it fails then change your direction a bit and try again. You should be successful quickly. It always works for me.
2. I have found out that emerging from the water is one of the most frustrating task in the game if you are playing the game under win****2000. It's almost impossible - it's far more annoying than under w98. But it is possible. If you lose your air supply, go to the grate, take in breath, return, and continue trying. I usually need 3 or 4 breaths (at rather high Athletics and with the Iron Lung trait!) before I succeed to emerge But I always suceed in the end (with foam at my mouth). No special technique helps under win****2000: pushing the sleeping filth before you does not work, looking a bit down while trying to get out is futile,... RRRAUGHHH!

I'll try that Vanishing one more time...
The only reason I need that Serpent idol, is to get Book of Servant. And we all know what we should say to that naga spirit, so it isn't so important. Hmmm... I killed Elyssia. Quite interesting when she ask you: ' Are you prepared to drink the Dark Nectar of the serpent? ' You have 4 options to answer:
Huh! Didn't remember you can actually swear in this game

Yes that is actually funny. Often one has the opportunity to answer both "no" and "never". I have never noticed any difference in the responses I get.

I don't have the code for the Snake Idol off hand which seems little odd given how much trouble folks have had getting the item. Now I do have a collection of half a zillion saved games but I have no way of knowing if any of them actually contain the code for the snake idol. If someone has a saved game WITH the snake idol, it would not be hard to figure it out. If someone can email me a copy of such a saved game, I can fiddle out the code. Wyv |

I think I always leave the idol in it's receptacle thing in the serpent temple... I could go back (with my ranger party ) and grab it.... How soon do you want it?

And because Vanishing didn't work ( tried over 20 times ! )
I discovered new use for Teleport. I swim as far I could get among that tunnel turned around and created portal. Then I go back and catch some breath and casted Teleport. ~~~Sphosh~~ I was otherside that hard part of tunnel and I got Serpent idol! And WillowIX, if you still want to study savedgame with Serpent idol, I'll link my game here, when I upload it into my pages... {EDIT} Okey, you'll find that saved game over here It's packed into .zip and size is 252Kt. {/EDIT} [ 10-09-2003, 02:49 AM: Message edited by: Olli Kalma ]

It did not work?!? Strange! Where did you try to vanish from, Olli? I am always vanishing the following way:
1. Emerge from the water as much as possible at the end of the tunnel. Well, you are still "under water" but it does not matter. 2. Look in the direction to the idol. 3. Cast Vanish. Usually, the first attempt passes. Sometimes, the first attempt fails: in that case, change a direction a bit and try again. The second attempt will pass. I've never experienced any problems with this method As far as the Snake Idol is concerned, here are the questions of the Spirit of Xydusa and the minimum answers to them (the first column is the question, the second column is the minimum answer): serpent strikes - servant prays serpent sleeps - servant waits serpent charms - servant bows serpent schemes - servant dreams The questions can follow in different order.

Perhaps my Vanishing failed 'cause I'm running unpatched version...
I'd remember when I have patch I didn't have any problems to get idol. Now, Serpent Temple is far away and I hope I never have to return there anymore ( in this game ) I have over 50 Serpin Coins and my wizard-->warlock-->bard is only character that need's Scroll of Trickery, so never into S.Temple again! I tried Vanishing in the position when you'r heads are above the water, but you are still drowning... It was as far I could get, and I tried it from several ways, but no. Teleport was answer into this problem. It teleports you in front of portal, not in the same spot where you casted create portal... It's very close that portal, but still far enought to get over that spot in tunnel. I was wandering, I have 11th level samurai, that I want to train into ninja, but he doesn't have Tiger Strike trait, cause he's only 2nd level in Bushi Dojo. If I change his class, can I train T. Strike later, or do I have to be samurai to get that trait?
