Does the character have to rack up these 20 kills while exploring alone? If so, I'll pick some other elite role for him and forfeit the 500 gold.

Nope. It records any kill he makes as part of a party or otherwise.

Nope - he/she can be in a party. I usually put my barbarian-to-be in the front (selected character) and quickly dispatch twenty worguls, rats, bats and fish.

Just remember that the Barbarian to be must make the KILL, not just merely assist. Just to keep down confusion, I generally take mine out by himself and have him go slap fish in the river. If I bring anyone along, it's the priest for healing...but most of the time that's not needed anyway.

Check your "Kills" stat at the beginning of the quest. Add 20. When your "Kills" stat reached the value, you have completed the quest. That's all what matters. Size of your party, etc., is unimportant.

I could be wrong but I believe the kill has to be UNASSISTED.

If caracter 1 is on the Barbarian quest. Caracter 1 will not get credit for the kill (towards the completion of the quest) if caracters 2-3-4-5-6 assisted the kill.

Cheers

Nope...as long as he makes the kill, that's all that counts. I've done it too many times. Radek has the right idea: check your kill stats before you start, and then after you're 20 above that, go back and get credit for it.

The best way to get all 20 kills I've found is to take your barbarian-to-be out solo, set the spawn frequency to often, and head first just south-east of Valeia, and kill the pack of 12 (?) worgurs if you haven't already. If you have, just wander about for awhile. The crypt is a good place to go as there are lots of monsters down there and they are real easy, at any level.

Happy hunting!

My character's been promoted to Barbarian. Thanks, all, for your timely replies.
