ugh! On PSO we had worse than just PKers,

here's a list:

Vkers -

These guys ruined your CD rom permanently and reverted your characters back to version 1, so even if you did Re-purchase the disk (No refunding was available) your items would all be gone and you'd be reset to level 100 (Which is a LONG way away from 200)

Ckers -

These guys out-right made your characters HP a permanent negative 5 or 15 so you could never play with them again as you'd constantnly fall over and die, even in the chat lobbies, and it's not posisble to access one's inventory when they're dead so you'd have to lose all your items too...

PORKERS-

These guys found out how to BLOW THE PORTS on your controllers so you'd have to buy a new dreamcast, new modem, and new keyboard, UNFROTUNETLY sega also decided to add the hitch of your only being able to play your PSO characters on ONE MACHINE EVER so you had to re-purchase the game and start your characters over again too...

PKERS-

Classic, they could kill you anyhow, anywhere, be of any class and strike without warning, all they had to do was cast HEAL and without any chance you'd be dead and your items and all your money would drop right beside your little courpse which they could easily rob...

ACKERs-

These guys basically didn't do anything to your character but they did find out that sega actually EXPOSES your CREDIT CARD number every time you log in and hence they charge up all they want on it with your number and account information which they can easily access with a little good timing, and the slower your connection they more easily they could get the information!

MKers -

They just made your modem stop working and forced you to buy a new one.

NOLers -

The worst of the worst, this code turned whatever level character you were into a level 5 huntress named NOL, your stats, inventory, appearance, and name would all be reverted to that of the NPC named NOL and you'd either get banned by sega for this (yes that's right, you could be set up to be BANNED by hackers without them getting in any trouble) or your game would force itself to save (So either be banned or be NOL) and the code was SO easy to excecute my freind and I did it when he brought over his gameshark by complete accident! (just type in FFFFFFF for a line! WHAT THE HECK WAS SEGA THINKING! allowing players to ALTER other players to change them into NPCs! with a line of all 16s in hex!) Though most people were turned into NOL others were turned into other NPCs, including SONIC, KNUCKLES, and TAILS, all of which resulted in an unquestionable ban, and calling sega was of no help.

All of these codes could easily be innitated and they could happen without any player pressing a button, traps could be layed in game rooms with appealing names that would last for up to 20 minutes without players in them, and people would join empty but appealing rooms like hotcakes and one by one they'd each have the horrifying effect take place on their dreamcast...I myself was a victim of having my ports blown, I was NOLed 8 consecutive times, PKed about 10,000 times, and CKed once (Fortunetly I managed to survive by puttin on an HP boost + 20)

Do these types of things still work in the new PSO?

yes...

EXCEPT FOR PKING... which is no longer possible, and you don't drop your stuff when you die any more... kudos... Unfortunelty there still is everything else above... - _ -

Here's the PKer's Credo (I pulled it off one of their clan websites). It's quite funny how seriously they take themselves. ...

In France during Middle Age, Paris was once nicknamed: "the city of lights". Not for its fame or cultural image but because at dusk, its inhabitants put candles at their windows. Wayfarers could see them shining in the distance when they came to the town. Candles at all windows, what a smart and refined idea it was! However, the reason that motivated people to light their streets had nothing to do with esthetics. Indeed, in these rough times, going out at night meant turning into an easy prey for thieves. Thieves hid in the darkness, waiting for victims, to knock and loot. Therefore, for Paris citizens, candles' light was a way to prevent bandits from hiding in the dark.

All along times, everywhere in the world, bandits have always attacked honest people. Bandits were (and are) at every level of the hierarchy, from clumsy and low thieves to the mob Godfathers. The need of "possession" is part of human nature and people use people to serve their own interests.

In nowadays-virtual communities, such as Ultima Online or Meridian 59, it' s funny to note that you will also find those brutal and bloodthirsty outlaws, ready to mistreat honest players and eager to steal their goods. Is it a surprise? In a game where competition and stats ?hierarchy rule, this behavior is legitimate. A feeling of guilt does not stop a bandit player. He uses ANY trick to reach his goal, whether it is cheating, theft or murder. We happily welcome this kind of player on our site. Nothing will stop him. Whatever are the measures taken against these evil creatures (PK switch and other crap), they will always find a way to break some rules, and piss everybody off. This site is based upon this selfish "philosophy". We do not mean that genuine evil role players are unwelcome. We just think that a virtual community must involve your real personality; rather than making up a nice character according to the rules, a real player killer plays one role only: his own, whatever it will lead him into.

The [insert name here] team is made of player-killers. Yes, we do cheat. We kill, we steal, we build our fortune, we make people crazy, and we do our best to spread chaos and ill feeling. And guess what we get from all that? The greatest pleasure and satisfaction of all our players' careers.

Maybe if they could have sex a few times, they would loosen up and not be so serious about their PKing

Umm. Excuse me. I don't PK and I go into NWN to play on line (and have my butt usually handed to me), but I don't think I've ever been able to figure out how to play here. I mean I Post here, but darned if I can't figure out how to pay here. What does one do to do this? What options do I need to I select in NWN? What link should I visit? How do I play here in the mod you guys are talking about?

(If you think the step-by-step will bore people, by all means email me. Please?)

Click the button at the top of the page to get the details of IWs own NWN server. The info you need is the IP address.

Load up NWN, hit multiplayer, create an account, wait for it to connect to gamespy, hit direct connect at the bottom, and enter the IP. In theory you can search the list of servers for NWN, but Ive never seen it appear.

At the moment the server is down though.

Yah, I know, sort stupid to take a character that souped up and feel 'cool' for trouncing one half your level with few weapons that can even hit you...so what exactly is your skill? Hacking a character up to obscene levels...ooh...ooh..that's so amazing....NOT!

Well, Neverwinter Nights allows for plenty of Vault Servers. Which do not allow people to bring in their level 40 uber chars. They usually provide a better roleplaying experience as well

All this acctually happened to me when i first started playing Diablo 2. I got really pissed cos the guy kept on killing me as i went throo into the unknown.
Well a few months later i had lvled up heaps and decided to help ne newbie players who r a bit stuck in the game and i found one saying "Please Help Me". So i went in and to my surprise it was that guy a few months back that was killing me. He was in that game too and was killin a realatively low lvled character. I was on a higher lvl than him so i decided to start killing him and he was like "Ahh piss off MATE, im just helping him". He didnt even remember who i was so i reminded him. He was sayin he was srry but that just didnt cut it.
"HOW DOES IT FELL HEY?!" i sed. The he just left.
i gave back back that other players loot that had got stolen. and left the game.

I havnt played Diablo 2 ever since. I usually play games like the Warcraft series and Starcraft.

I do really hope that, that PKer learnt his lesson!!!!
