I was talking to a friend of mine about Alienware today and it came up that they were owned by Dell, and I thought he was crapping out of his mouth until I found one of several articles on it. Apparently, it has been nearly a year since this happened. How did I miss this?

I don't know, but it seems to me the topic ran three pages when it happened.

It continues to surprise me that there are still Alienware PCs on the market, rather than them being absorbed wholly into the XPS line. Dell thinks name recognition is that important, I guess...well, that and the funny looking cases Alienware has so popularized over the past few years.

Pizza Hut and Taco Bell are partners, but Taco Bell's website isn't branded PizzaHut.Tacobell.com
Merged, yes, I'll agree to that, but AMD is the core company here, and, if it weren't for consumer recognition, the name ATI wouldn't exist any more. Not that it changes the employees or products. Well, yet, anyway... *drools in anticipation of eventual 65 nm process GPUs*
