Somehow I'm under the impression there are those who aren't really fond of the UN or it's resolutions...
And they are completely right. The minute someone does something we don't like, we should launch our missiles and destroy the entire country he/she lives in. In the name of good and righteousness of course. That'll teach them not to do it again.
Does sarcasm show in text?

Sorry folks, I'm about as tolerant as they come but I can't stand bloodlust. I can live with wars when wars are nessecary, but I'd rather see the less biased decide when exactly that is. No disrespect intended.

The difference is, the USA is not right next to countries it has threatened recently to nuke, and I also disagree with you on another point, when ever the USA or USSR or any NATO country was going to do a test missile launch, the other countries were notified to prevent World War Three.

Someone asked well was it a Nuke? There is no way to tell untill it detonates, so the retaliation has to come before it lands....read up on how the cold war was conducted folks.

This post was not ment to promote kicking North Korea's ass, it was to announce a very stupid action. A silkwork missile is an anti-ship missile yes (I didn't have that info when I posted) but it could be capable of carrying a small nuke...

The action was a stupid stupid mistake that could have caused a very nasty altercation ...just one more stupid thing in a long line of stupidness.

I think that there should be 37,000 less US troops in South Korea. And a WHOLE LOT less in Germany. What the heck are they doing over there, anyway,? Now? Who cares about the Fulda Gap, anymore?

Attalus, the guys still stationed in Germany aren't there protecting the Fulda Gap They are forward deployed forces to give us a quick reaction strike capability in that part of the world. It is pretty much a Cash Cow for the Germans and a thing of convenience for the US defense Department.

Well, MagiK, it's the "Cash Cow" part I object to. Let's close Ramstein and build a base in a country that likes us, say I.

Yeah but that would cost a lot of up front dollars from the pentagon...it costs a lot to open a new base.still, I think it would be considerate of us to get our troops out of a country that doesnt want or need us any more.

Edit: Out of curiosity, does anyone know why France re-joined NATO after leaving in the 50's or 60's? Serious historical answers please....

It waas no-one was paying attention to the Force de Frappe, I believe, and France decided that they would have more influence over the alliance from within than without.

Here's a NATO timeline. France withdrew militarily in '66 and rejoined in '93, but this doesn't give the why on rejoining.
