I have been playing bg2 since it first came out. What is with the pillars that you can turn? Never did figure it out????

You mean the pillars in the Cave of Dead? Where the Lich is?

They summon various types of hostile creatures

Do you at least get items from them? Or are they there just for xp?

I think they are there for XP. I also think that you get some items from them but it`s random loot.

Thanks but how do you kill the green slimes? They just keep coming and in greater numbers. Even tried cheating using the cheat keys.

Yup i tried every spell in the book, i used all the different wepons that my group carried, and they kept spawning. I didn't use the cheats until i have tried everything else. This is the problem i keep getting (Kill one get two, kill two get four and so on.) Think it could be a bug???

Turning the pillars gives you the message that "some of the traps on the level above have been deactivated," but when you go up there, those Traps are still quite active. But who cares, you were going to have your Thief Disarm the Traps anyway, so it's no skin off your nose. Turning the tables/pillars just gets you some roadkill to squish for EXP....

And as for the Fission Slimes: Read a certain book which describes some of the new types of monsters found in ToB. You should have come across about 6 copies of it by now.
