Just wondering if anyone has found any fixed-width windows fonts that are suitable for DC (must be fixed-width or the items page doesn't display correctly).

Or does anyone know how to make fonts? A higher-resolution version of the original gold-box font would be cool - or even the UA font. Hey even a fixed-width Times New Roman would be a start.

We have a system for aligning variable-width font text, but haven't applied it to the item/spell screens yet (includes inventory and shop lists). The character stat screen uses it, and that screen seems to line up fairly well. It's a little tricky to adopt this alignment method to the remaining screens, so that's why it hasn't been done yet.

I have fixed this now, adapting the code we use for character stats to the inventory, treasure, shop, and spell screens. I even right-aligned columns such as cost and quantity. Everything should align properly now regardless of the font being used, as long as the font is not so large that it get's clipped by overlapping text.

Hey, Guys! yah know what would be an awesome thing? If someone made the old Font that came with the Pools of radiance (it might've been the same for all the games, its been a while so I don't remember). ByTheWay, This "dark warrior" thing is SilentThiefs alter ego. I got cut off from the net and couldn't remember my password to log in on this computer, so as soon as I get re-connected The dark warrior will die.

i think i have that font that was used in the old games two problems however first i can only use it bold no regular, italic or bold italic

second it can only be increased in increments of 8 therefore 16 seems a bit too small but 24 is way too big i think it would work perfect at 20 but i dont know how the heck to edit fonts

correction this font is similar to the old pool of radiance font but not exactly the same i think its from the old neverwinter nights

I've made some font changes for this upcoming release. The fonts can now be normal, not just bold. The font point size isn't forced into the range 8-16 anymore, but of course you've got to test your font to make sure the menus will still fit onto the screen with a large font size.

I could not add support for italic fonts. The underlying graphics lib I use (CDX) just doesn't support it.

actually the current release allows you to use fonts over 16 i was able to use 24 with that neverwinter nights font however the 24 font ended up being way too large however i will recheck it when it is not bold as that could change things around enough to make it usable as long as the character names arent too long but i wont know until the new release

I downloaded the old NeverWinter Nights font from here

http://www.bladekeep.com/nwn/index2.htm

DC lets you specify any font on your system, but the glitch is that it doesn't copy that font into the design folder. Someone who plays the design, but doesn't have the NWN font installed, will get some sort of closest-fit font I guess. I'm not sure what the result will be, but it probably won't be good.

You could manually package the font file with the design files and include instructions on installing the font into Windows.

When the game is run, could you have the font immediately checked for in the "windows/fonts" directory, then if it is not there, copy it in and later (upon quitting) delete it?

Maybe it's not that simple. Things could get stuffed up if the game crashes or you don't quit properly - I remember having problems using batch files to load fonts into Frua.

I'm not sure how difficult it is either. I can add it to the ToDo list and find out.
