Sunglass Man

I talked to my oldest step daughter for about 4 hours. she understands my feelings about everything that is happening, and wants to get to know me and my kids she did have a little freak out moment when she found out I am bearly 10 years older than her I made her laugh a few times by telling her some things about her father, and she asked how me and her daddy met, that was kind of a hard thing to explain without going into alot of details about why her dad was in the hospital. she also told me that her and her sister were told that I was a druggie and a drunk and that is what is wrong with Caleb I am trying really hard not to hate her mother for saying something like that without even knowing me. I have never drank when I was pregnant, nor did I do drugs, and to me spreading lies to your kids about their step mother that you do not even know is just plain wrong.

Glad your day turned out good Stormy! It is interesting to find that some relatives who are not so close to us as others can be much more understanding.

Cool, I'm glad those still exist! (good days, that is) I wouldn't worry too much about what her mother says, she's already predisposed that way, I'm sure.

Always keep in mind the source. Kids get pulled in so many different ways it is very hard on them and the parents. I remember transision day was always a rough one. What I did notice was the kids acted out more at our house than their dads. I believe it was they felt safer with us so they could let go of thier frustration. Parents play emotional black mail with thier kids in a divorce but it is usually only one, and the one who doesn't gets all the behavior issues because they are safe.

Some of the things my kids say to me as thier step parent could hurt if I took it personaly so I don't. I'm better for it and so are they.

I am glad to hear you are getting along with your family! I have a similar experience, except mine is getting to know my inlaws. I'll save that for another thread.

I'd be busting some ass. Seriously though, be the bigger person, and ignore them. They are NOT friends (may be family) but FRIENDS do not do that. Sorry you went through that.

I have a half sister that is a drunk, and called me up a few years ago at 2am cussing me out, saying my dad never loved me and shit.. She is 46 folks! The whole family, including my DAD knew she was a drunk, and she called my Dad even, crying about stuff when he was alive and we lived in Louisville. Shes nice to me now, but I will always REMEMBER what she said.
