The thread is about a spending progam, for low income, heating assistance, part of the federal budget that has passed the Hose of Reps but not the U.S. Senate.

I would agree that pension plans that don't keep up with inflation are losing ground, can anyone say Social Security? But I believe if you are willing to let the politcians give you your pension, and look after you in your old age, well you'll get what you wanted.

I think my point still stands - even if more is being spent above inflation for the whole group then each person may receive less than an inflation rise as there are more people each year to cater for.

And as for the pensions, just because you let the government have it does not mean you "want" it to be run badly and for you to have less money. Politicians should be servants of the people, I personally thought that wa the foundation of democracy. Just because the system doesn't work that way now does not mean it could not work that way if we tried to change it instead of accepting it as the way things are for evermore. So I think state pensions are a very good idea personally.

Well, I don;t know the specifics but if the fall in growth rate is less than the rate of inflation in the economy then this is in fact a cut in real terms. How you phrase it is up to you, but even if they are getting more actual money to spend than last year the pensioners could still have less wealth in real terms. Money is not a good rating of wealth over time unless it takes inflation into account. A simple point, but you'd be surprised how often it gets overlooked for that very reason.

And the font is fine by me.
Good point about inflation but I believe that inflation here is pretty low for the last year, SO I guess I really do need to look to see if the total dollars allocated this year is actually at least the inflation rate higher than last year. I think it is, but didn't really check. You are right, it is easy to forget that little detail.

Inflation for last year in the US was 2.8%.
I think he thought it would be apparent because Eisenschwarz himself said something like that he forgot the pw to Dramnek Ulk, couldn't be bothered waiting for it to be sent again and asked Z to delete it now that he was using Eisenschwarz. No attempt at guile I believe...

EDIT** Particularly as Dramnek's 'How much do you know about me?' (title?) thread linked to a 'how much do you know about Eisenschwarz' page.
