I remember being so thrilled the first time I dreamed in another lanuage. I think Sir T maybe said the thing about translating back and forth. You have to get beyond that, you have to start actually thinking in the language. What frustrates me sometimes is that I can think of a word in two or three languages, but not the one I'm needing at the time. It was interesting what Rudi said about counting and doing numbers still in Spanish. Most people no matter how fluent still think of numbers in their first language regardless. I find that very interesting.

That's interesting that can you dream in another language, I didn't think about that. I guess it would be the natural progression of being fluent in another language.
Now Reeka I feel it is my duty to inform you that you must leave Alabama. We have an image to uphold, or hold down. Y'all know marring cousins, three teeth, and a gaint 6th grade education

The discussions of accents above, fascinate me! I've always picked them unconsciously.

In my studies of Russian, I never realized I was using the intonation and pronunciation of an educated native speaker. My vocabulary was the only thing that gave me away when in the USSR! I was made aware of it in Moscow by Russian friends and teachers who kept insisting at first that I must be from a Russian speaking family in the States. It was certainly flattering to be asked to repeat our phonetics work as examples of correct pronunciation for the non-native Russian speakers of my class!

Now if only I could get those dratted numbers properle declined in dates and times...
