Beastmasters can use many scimitars! This is a BUG!

What makes it worse is that they can't gain proficiency in scimitars... grrr.
I guess no-one at Bioware ever bothered playing one... they sure seem unpopular here.

A scimitar is mostly metal as far as I know. If beastmasters can indeed use them, well, it's either a bug or (kind of) a reason to try the beastmaster out.

Scimitars are metal, they are curved swords, like long cutlasses

According to Druid Law They cannot use matal either
It disturbes their Magick
BUT it clearly states Druids can use Sciminars
There must be something special about them

(ponders why BG doesn;t include those great Rapiers)

The first question is why would you b using a Beastmaster in the first place!? while its true that all the classes have stragnthes and weaknessess, some of them do just suck (beastmaster for 1) as for your question, I'd say its probablly just a bug, Bioware problly missed it, not bothering to really test the BM, knwing the suck and expecting them to not get much use.

If I may.. the Druids are allowed to use scimitars becuase according to "Druid Law" they are allowed to weild the sickle, a sacred weapon/ farm implement. However, rather than introduce the sickle as a weapon to BG, our friends at Bioware shifted that sacred weapon to the scimitar instead, also allowing more tie in with other classes/ interests. If they had stuck to the sickle, then you would have had an entire class of weapons that was totally class dependent and only available/ useful to one class... I think

Beastmasters are Rangers who are not able to use metal weapons. Why do you say it is a bug????

I want to test how awesome a level 12 Beastmaster dualed to a Cleric is.

Ranger/Clerics get all Druid and Clerical spells, but Beastmasters get Animal Summoning spells at *MUCH* lower levels than Druids or Clerics do. So this guy will have Animal Summoning II as a 2nd level spell ... he'll pretty much be the ultimate summoner, with summoned animals, fire elementals, skeletons and eventual skeletal warriors, aerial servants and insect swarms. He's going to stay to the back with his sling and shield during combat.
