Mind if I add some riddles myself?

"Which side of a wolfhound has the most hair?"

"Baskets, barrels, buckets, cans, what must you fill with empty hands?"
(It's none of the things mentioned.)

"Strong enough to crush ships and drown men, yet it must flee the rays of the sun, what is it?"

(I'll find some more to add later.... If noone minds.)

Cool thread, Daniel!

Since someone mentioned "What's in my pocket?", here's another one from Bilbo's exchange with Gollum.

A box without key, hinges, or lid.
Yet golden treasure within is hid.

I think the answer to Neb's riddle about the crushing ships and fleeing the sun would be "ice."

Well it looks like all the answers have been answered except mumber 3 which is a cat and a comma.

For those of you who cannot be bothered reading through the whole thread to find the answers here they are:

1. Tomorrow
2. Pair of shoes
3. Cat and a Comma
4. The Dictionary
5. Mt. Everest
6. The wind
7. A fish
8. Time
9. A river
10. Silence
11. A candle
12. Nothing
13. The letter E
14. A wall
15. Man

well anyway here are a few more.

16. Of all your possessions I am hardest to guard,
If you have me you will want to share me,
And if you share me you will no longer have me.

What am I?

17. A plane crashes on a mountain side, and half of
passengers die. The mountain is made out of solid stone
with no soil, snow or dirt etc. So where do you bury the
survivors.

18. I have rivers without water,
Forests without trees,
Mountains without rocks
Towns without houses.

19. Two bodies have I,
though both joined in one.
The more still I stand,
the quicker I run.

20. You get many of me, but never enough.
After the last one, your life soon will snuff.
You may have one of me but one day a year,
When the last one is gone, your life disappears.

21. I am the part of the bird
that is not in the sky,
Who can drown in the ocean
and yet remain dry.
A last vestige of man
that refuses to die.
In mourning I am tossed
at your feet to lie;
I begin my job early,
devouring your ankles and thighs.
I work my way up,
eating your legs to your waist.
And though around midday away I am chased,
I return quickly,
To savor the arm of my taste.
As evening falls I enter your lungs,
Spiraling down
past your mouth and your tongue.
I feast on your body, your soul, and your mind,
but as darkness falls you shall find
That away I will go, a relief for some;
At least until tomorrow morning comes.

22. I weaken all men for hours each day.
I show you strange visions while you are away.
I take you by night, by day take you back,
None suffer to have me, but do from my lack.

23. I make you weak at the worst of all times.
I keep you safe, I keep you fine.
I make your hands sweat, and your heart grow cold,
I visit the weak, but seldom the bold.

24. As light as a feather, but you can't hold it for ten minutes.

25. Weight in my belly,
Trees on my back,
Nails in my ribs,
Feet I do lack.

26. Keys without locks
Yet I unlock the soul.

27. A man rode to town on Friday.
He stayed there all night,
and came back on the same Friday.
How can this be?

28. In marble halls as white as milk,
Lined with a skin as soft as silk,
Within a fountain crystal-clear,
A golden apple doth appear.
No doors there are to this stronghold,
Yet thieves break in and steal the gold.

29. This creature, part man and part tree,
hates the termite as much as the flea.
His tracks do not match,
and his limbs may detach,
but he's not a strange creature to see.

30. 'Twas in heaven pronounced, and 'twas muttered in hell,
An echo caught faintly the sound as it fell;
On the confines of earth 'twas permitted to rest,
And the depths of the ocean its presence confessed;
'Twill be found in the sphere when 'tis riven asunder,
Be seen in the lightning and heard in the thunder.
'Twas allotted to man with his earliest breath,
Attends him at birth, and awaits him in death,
Presides o'er his happiness, honor, and health,
Is the prop of his house, and the end of his wealth.
In the heaps of the miser 'tis hoarded with care,
But is sure to be lost on the prodigal heir.
It begins every hope, every wish it must bound,
With the husbandman toils, and with monarchs is crowned.
Without it the soldier, the seaman may roam,
But woe to the wretch who expels it from home!
In the whispers of conscience its voice will be found,
Nor e'en in the whirlwind of passion be drowned.
'Twill not soften the heart; but though deaf be the ear,
It will make it acutely and instantly hear.
Yet in shade let it rest, like a delicate flower,
Ah... breathe on it softly, - it dies in an hour.

I am quickly running out of riddles I think I am going to have a try at making some of my own. Once again I will give you chance to answer them before I post the answers. So cya then.

Here is another riddle I made this one my self, I based it on an old joke I heard.

In the forest this room can be found,
coloured brightly or coloured brown,
It has no windows or even a door,
but often many litter the floor.

I know this may sound cheesy to some of you but I am quite happy with it, I think it is quite good for a first attempt.

P.S Please feel free to post more riddles, I just cannot get enough of them.
