I have 4 party members, all human, one rogue / bard, 1 pure cleric, 1 pure druid, 1 pure sorcerer.

I've had them all from the beginning.

The rogue has 15256 xp
The cleric has 15180 xp
The druid has 15108 xp
The sorcerer has 14993 xp

And I have no idea why the difference. It seems the guys in the first positions get more xp for some reason, but there is no mention of why anywhere.

I believe the game attempts to divide experience evenly between characters. Failing a perfect (in your case, multiple of 4) division, it gives uneven experience. Say you kill something that gives 6 XP. Each character would get 1 XP, while the top 2 get an extra one XP. Since you're a fair ways through, the different XPs add up.

At least I think that's how it works, but I could be talking straight out of my...

EDIT: Should add, in 3rd Ed. rules (as is IWD2), experience depends on the levels of your characters, so that killing a goblin results in more experience for a level 1 character than a level 6 character. Combined with ECL races as well as what I mentioned above, that probably plays a big role.

Also, I'm pretty sure that dead characters don't gain xp. If you have had a character die and resurected them after the battle, they may have missed out on the xp from that battle (and the others may have gained their share).

Actually this is irrevelent. Although XP does depend on level it depends on average level of whole party and even then is still divided evenly amongst the members. It is not that higher level members get less. Similarly ECL affects what level you have with current xp but has no effect on the division of xp amongst party members.

The reason of the differences in xp is what you said initially about xp not being always divisible by 6, and what Marty mentioned about dead characters not getting xp.

I actually tested it. Read this thread, with my last post.

DOn't quote me oin this, but I don't think characters in Oteluke's Sphere get XP either
