It's a whippit...mini grey hound

And the owner just came by and picked her up. I knew anyone who cared about their dog would start looking for it right away She called the vet I went to yesterday this morning. Apparently the dog busted out of a screen window and this hasn't been the first time. The owner was ecstatic to have her back And I was happy to give her back

Cute dog! I'm glad it found it's way back to its home...It's a bit of a cruel fate for a dog to get out, get lost, and get into trouble....

Let's face it...dogs AREN'T the brightest of creatures...They can't help the urge to run around and it would be a shame for one to get hurt because of it.

As for the claiming if someone does not come around to the animal shelter within 7 days I doubt they are looking very hard unless the dog originated from another town or city and traveled a fair distance, or was abducted.
I've never seen them get tattoed on the underbelly before. Only seen it on the inside of the ear, 2 of my dogs have that because they are registered pure breds.

I am happyu things turned out for the best for the puppy, she is so cute and I agree you did the right thing. I remember when we were supposed to be dog sitting, and wound up the owners did not want him back, but he would get out and take off all the time, and we would recive calls on him because the old owners gave the vet our number. after the last time he took off, he killed a bunch of prized fighting chickens. and there was no way we could pay for them. the pound had him, they called me to tell me it would cost $50 to get him out, and we could not pay. they called on the last day to see if we wanted him, I was crying because I thought they were going to put him down. but turns out they had about 15 people who wanted him and were getting tired of waiting, lol. so it turned out for the best for him. he was a blue eyed black husky. and was very good with children, the only reason I did not like him is he did not take to my cat :/

Does that mean that if the real owner turns up after 8 days you won't give it back? I can see a 10 year old crying her eyes out at the loss of her pet.
LMAO! Good point. Dont get too emotionally attached just yet... or, alternatively, if you come to love him/her.... paint her fur with black spots so the people who come looking wont recognise

Diabolical, I say. That is, until, the doggie runs in avid excitement towards its owners when called. That would actually be embarassing. On second thoughts... leave the paint in its tin.
