I think this might be the last one. I've scanned all my remaining problems, and I feel I can do them. The problem includes:

Determine the value for c on [2,5] that satisfies the Mean Value Theorem (f'(c)= f(b)-f(a)/b-a) for f(x)=x2-3/x-1.

And here's all the work I've included:

f(5)= 52-3/5-1
= 25-3/4
= 22/4= 11/2

f(2)= 22-3/2-1
= 4-3/1
= 1

f(x)= (x2-3)(x-1)-1
f'(x)= 2x(x-1)-1-(x2-3)(x-1)
= (2-2x)-(x2-3)(x-1)
= -2(-1+x)-(x2-3)(x-1)
= (x+1)(-2-x2+3)
= (x+1)(-x2+1)

(c+1)(-c2+1)= 9/2/3
c+1= 3/2 -c2+1= 3/2
c= 1/2 c= ...

The answer is supposed to be 3, but I'm not getting that. Can anyone point out my error?

Yes, but the amount of Pokemon included in the left side of the equation doens't come close to a monkey with glasses. Sorry, but I think he'd be better off answering "chicken curry".

I think you messed up the differentiation....
it should be 2x(x-1)^-1 - (x^2-3)(x-1)^-2 (you missed off the power of -2)
then carry on from there, solve by partial fractions I think.

You have to think about the mathimatical equvelent of a squid, times by pi with a monkey milk, then divide by a squid head, the number of eyes on a blind spider and then you get...
Eggs.

LOL! Nanobyte, I think you may go off the deep end if you include green squids and Pokemons in there! Vaskie seems to have helped out, though!

It's AP (Advanced Placement), which is considered college level.

edited: and no, I'm neither. I actually plan on becoming a game designer, and even then, will most likely lean towards writing than programming.
