This is relating to the 4th of July, and mainly for those residing in The U.S.

This lot of questions was asked at a local mall, and the results were sickening. I took the test, before seeing the answers and got them all right. What are kids learning in our school system is what I want to know!!!!

P.S. Nobody got # 5 correct....

Test your knowledge, and I'll post the results later

The following questions were posed to 17 shoppers at the Mall

1. Q. Why do we celebrate the Fourth of July?

2. Q. From which country did America gain independence?

3. Q. Which river did George Washington and his troops cross in a surprise attack during the Revolutionary War?

4. Q. Where was the Declaration of Independence signed?

5. Q. What are the three 'unalienable rights' afforded to us by the Declaration of Independence?

6. Q. How many stripes are on the American flag?

7. Q. Who wrote the words to the "Star Spangled Banner?"

8. Q. What country gave us the Statue of Liberty?

9. Q. Who was the first president of the United States?

10. Q. Which came first: the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence?

Well as an Aussie, who left school 20 years ago, and never studied American History, I can claim to have got 8 out of 10. Sad to say that your #4 (signed where?) and #7 (stripes on flag - I guessed and got it wrong )had me stumped.

4. Q. Where was the Declaration of Independence signed?

Just a shot in the dark, but is the answer 'at the bottom'

OK, it's lunchtime in the cricket, and I have justr consumed my repast of Steak onions mashed tatties peas and corn (slurp).

Answers :

1) Celebrates the signing of the declaration of independance (1776 I think)

2) From Donut's mob (George 3)

3) Delaware (remember the painting from somewhere)

4) Don't know

5) Life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness (ugh, too many American sitcoms - Wonder Years etc)

6) Damn, said in my post it was 7 I got wrong - the stripes question was #6 - guessed 10, but it's 7 apparently

7) The song - Francis Scott Key

8) La Belle France (saw the Statue on my visit last month)

9) That Delaware crossin dude

10) Declaration Of Independance

How did I do?

Oh how embarrassing - I went and counted them when I knew I didn't know the answer, but I was assuming white was the background and the stripes were red (whoops), so 7 red and 6 white huh Donut - that makes sense I suppose. Well, compounded my incorrect answer with some amazing short sightedness DOH - hey, I am damned sure I had a full pint of Cider a minute ago??????
