Forboding HADB Castle No 5

Indeed... I've been away from IW 2 months, but I haven't been in an RP here for even longer.

IC: Hiram wondered why he should be afraid of a petting zoo when the owner/operator was standing next to him. Since he was fond of speaking of himself in the third person he grumbled “Hiram is not afraid of animals” while reaching for his hammer.

The sullen dwarf stood there in his eternium chainmail and adamantium gauntlets. He had forged them himself 90 years ago when he first started adventuring. It was difficult finding the right ore to work with, but many days of searching the caves of his homeland were fruitful. The boots he wore were a gift from a friend and they had some magical qualities, but Hiram truly didn’t care as long as they were comfortable and waterproof. The gauntlets were covered in dry blood and his dented, horned helmet sat upon his head at an angle. His expression was grim as it usually is. He heard the sounds of the rabid beasts but smelled something familiar. The scent of peanut butter and jelly wafted through the air and Hiram knew that elves were around.

Before responding to Lady Breanna, he stopped for a moment and said a prayer to his god for the fallen heroes that had fought by their side many times before. He vowed to never forget Azure Greymane and Neb the Sorceror. They both had fought honorably and with astounding courage. That alone earned respect from the dwarven fighter. He had never tired of the “fat dwarf” comments from both because of how their goodness was so obvious.

The growling sounds woke Hiram from his reminiscing and he reached for his hammer. The well worn handle fit comfortably in his hand and he braced himself for action.

[Sigmar]

Sigmar kept a few steps behind Hiram, holding his long sword over his shoulder. He wondered why he had agreed to partake in this particular adventure, perhaps he had grwn tired of doing all the castles paper work, perhaps it was because he wanted to accompany his comrades in one of the adventures they had depicted to him on many an occasion.

He wore no enchanted armour or gaunlets nor did he bear any mystical equipment or weaponry. On the contrary, when asked whether he would like to accompany his comrades he had rushed down to the store room in the castle and siezed the first mundane pieces of equipment that he saw.

Sigmar being a young man had never encountered adventure of any sort, he had simply been the clan's "little buddy" ever since he wandered into the gates of the castle all those many years ago. His comrades had warned him of the dangers but he had no desire to remain at the castle any longer he yearned for adventure, and he had this oppertunity in the form of the petting zoo.

He hears Hiram's words, claiming not to be afraid of animals and laughs quielty under his breath. Whether Hiram truly held any fear for what awaited them beyond the gates was unknown to him, all he knew was that he himself had never been so scared in his entire life, not even when the clan played a practical joke on him involving the enchanted fruit...

He clutched his long sword tightly and looked around at the bizzare surroundings...and questioned whether he had made the right decision in joining the adventure. He wiped the sweat from his brow and rubbed it on his dull brown cloak, he had figured it would come in handy for a warrior, he made a mental note to make sure that next time he fashioned it from a better material then his room's curtains.

He gathered his thoughts and continued to follow Hiram, he didn't want to give his comrades the impression that he was afraid, not an obvious one anyway...

OOC: Good job so far guys! Siggy, wonderful intro for your new character and I'm happy you joined us. Anyone else wanting to join in at the start, try to get a post in to at least let me know, otherwise, I'll post the next move first thing in the a.m. I'm off tomorrow so will have plenty of time to play. PM me if you want to come in later or if you have any questions or just info you want to impart that you don't want other players to know yet.

*Lady Breanna prepares herself for battle, making sure she has a few spells at the ready. She is uncertain what could have happened that things could have gone so wrong in the zoo and tries desperately to recall which creature this could be that is loose. 'I don't remember anything that makes a sound like that being in the zoo', she ponders to herself.

The rumbling nears, another call from the beast...all bristle with tension. Then, something BURSTS out of the bracken and rounds the corner. It skids to a stop and shakes like a dog to throw off the debris.

It's about the size of a boar, plated with armored scales, four horns jut from its face, long fangs protrude from its jaws and spines bristle laterally along it's sides where the armored scales stop. It seems as if it's sizing the group up. It's sides heaving and drool falling to the ground in ribbons, it takes a step forward....one back...apparently deciding if it should attack for not. In the background, the zoo residents raise a cacophony of calls. Unexpectedly, Breanna rushes to the front of the group. Hiram puts out a hand to stay her, but she moves forward anyway...*

"Now...Burzle...don't you remember me?"

*The group is astounded. She's TALKING to it? What the....*

"Come on now, boy. No one is going to hurt you here.

*The creature looks from Breanna to the others then back to Breanna. It shakes it's massive head as if in confusion*

"Easy Burzle...easy..." *Breanna inches closer. She reaches for what passes for his muzzle. Then suddenly, something whizzes by out of the bush! Burzle goes berserk and tosses Breanna in the air to land several feet away. He whips around to face the stinging arrows. Stunned, Breanna lies on the ground...motionless. Burzle is now raving and gnashing at anyone and anything in his path. He turns again to charge the group...*

[Sigmar]

Sigmar evades the torso of Breanna flung towards the party by the creature know as Burzle. Never before had he seen anything like Burzle, not even in the large tomes that he often read within the castle walls, he didn't know what action to take...

Acting upon instinct he drew his sword and held it fowards in a threatning manner, but realising that he was in way over his head he decided to pick up Breanna from the floor instead, unfortunately the creature had other ideas.

Before he was able to pick up Breanna Sigmar is charged by the beast known as Burzle, he evades being gored by the four horns of the creature, but he looked in horror as his cloak was torn apart by the enraged beast, Sigmar struggled to remove his cloak which was now entangled upon its horns, the beast jerking its head left to right in a futile attempt to untangle itself sent Sigmar to the floor.

Realising that he required assistance very quickly should he wish to avoid being in contact with the beast he called out for help.

"Someone help, do something,hurry!"

Upon seeing both his friends hurt by the beast, Hiram knew what to do. His hammer spat power and a shimmering glow encompassed him. He struck at the creature with all of his might and shattered the creatures armor. The creature looked at the dwarf with shock in its somewhat intelligent eyes. It knew that it would be dangerous to continue to this fight, so it put the human down and gingerly stepped away from the battle. It's eyes stayed on the dwarf. As it limped off into the recesses of the zoo, it glared at the dwarf and struggled to keep upright because it's spine was close to being shattered.

Emotions ran rampant within the dwarf. Hiram would gladly pummel the beast if given enough time, but he had some friends to help right now. He reached inside his cloak and pulled out a potion of healing and strode to Breanna. He knelt beside her and cradled her head. Her auburn hair, stained with blood, sat stiffly upon her head. She was still a magnificant woman although vulnerable at the moment. Hiram could not help but notice this each day. The world dissapeared and all that mattered was her surviving. Her eyes, although brave and still piercing, showed some pain and that touched Hiram the way battle never will. He hesitantly unstoppered the potion and raised the small jar to her lips. She drank gratefully and felt the magic flow through her body. The healing powers mended most of her wounds and she would now live, although painfully.

Hiram breathed a sigh of relief and looked over to the brave lad that had tried to fight the beast armed with a sword and a great deal of courage. Seeing that the lad was not harmed much at all, Hiram walked over to Sigmar and gently kicked him. "Ye kin get up now, laddie" "An try not tae be wetting yer wee pants when danger comes aboot" The twinkle in Hiram's eye belied any percieved insult and the three gathered closer together to plan. Hiram remembered his first battle and gave much credit to this young one because it was Hiram's pants that were wet upon battling his first time.

Suddenly a near-metalic voice echoed from the heavens "LOOK OUT BELOW!" a large android (Correction: a Magically Animated Construct Ranger) coated in off-colored blood plummeted from a crater in the sky and crashed onto the floor infront of everyone, shaking off the starteling experience he turns and looks at everyone...

"Oh hello then... Sorry about all that... Darn Hildabear Punches..."

OC: Umm..okay. Chickety check this out, homeskillet. We are outside and have no ceiling. If you want to join in, you are welcome to but you should read what we all wrote first. It's easy, mmmkay.

If you want to drop from the sky, that's cool with us. If you want to be an android, that may be difficult because we are playing in a pseudo-Dungeons and Dragon's roleplaying thingie. PM me if you have any questions.
