I hear ya, WOLFGIR...

I took down the DawgPound ages ago, just because it was no longer fun. Now, I've lost my domain name...

NOW, for today's tip....

When is an ASCII/text editor not just an ASCII/text editor? When it's NoteTab !!!

I was used to EDIT, the DOS util. Then came Notepad and Wordpad. I prefer using these to the full-featured wordprocessors people use. I firing up a bloated Word program just to edit text. (BTW, if you send me an attachment, I REALLY prefer .txt over .doc )

So, I used NotePad constantly, loving it's small size. Then, I found Super NoteTab. I uses LESS resources than NotePad, with a TON more features, including a HTML library/filter set. !!! dictionary, thesaurus, and the ability to hold a bunch of files in memory when closed. I use it ALL the time, for EVERYTHING.

The newest version is NoteTab Light. Check it.

All right...I'll try to tap the wealth of knowledge
at the expense of looking silly.
I've written html help files and only just played around a bit
in a couple various editors...so be kind please.
How about some tips...explain it to me like i'm a four year old.
Does anyone know how to make a thumbnails gallery?
Whats the best way?...Do the pics have to be in a table?

Like your new sig Slackerboy.

Well what if you had a picture that
when viewed it would be like shining a light
on the pic...er...it...uh...the center of where the
mouse is positioned would be the clearest spot of the pic
with a blur effect as you get farther from the mouse
position.
An example of this can be found in the gallery at the
final fantasy site: www.finalfantasy.com
It's a very cool effect and probably pretty complex.
I have seen similar effects in galleries of car
manufacturers shopping there goods.
Would this be a photoshop or something similar technique?
Or done in Javascript or code?

I'm also wondering about other effects that occur
when the mouse is in certain spots...nothing like changing to
a pointing hand or anything or underlying objects changing color.
More along the lines of what i described above.
I was thinking of this: When the cursor passes over
a specific object that object is blurred or spirals into
a vortex slowly or somethinglike this?
Is this brutally impossible? Just plain dumb?

I definetly am interested in what makes good website design.
Simplicity, ease of use, friendly colours, patterns, the design
set up, etc. Any tips or thoughts on what makes good design?
